March Evening

Inhale the fragrance
of the evening breeze
as it blows through the boughs
of palm and pine trees.

Shadows cast by the setting sun
remind us
that this March day
will soon be gone.

New Direction

I need to move
in a different direction
one where my was isn't blocked.

I look around,
but see only roadblocks
I need to grow wings to fly
above the roadblocks and the fog.

composes love odes

I always think of Grandpa Newland,
whenever I see a white recliner.

The Word of God

There is Power in the Word!
Power to create
a new world out of the ashes of the old;
to bring order out of chaos.

There is Love in the Word!
Love that binds
one heart to another;
that creates an new humanity.

There is Peace in the Word!
Peace that passes all understanding;
that creates a world free of war,
with citizens free of fear.

There is Justice in the Word!
Justice which is God's best beloved;
allows individuals to see withe their own eyes,
and know of their own knowledge.

There is Life in the Word!
Life that survives physical death;
that carries the soul beyond material existence
into the Abha Paradise.

Meditation on the Speed of Thought

From dendrite to axon
thought moves
at a turtle's pace.

Thought moves
from section to section
doing the snail crawl
to its destination.

At 2 1/2 inches
in 900 milliseconds
(the time it takes
to move a finger)
thought moves
from hemisphere to hemisphere,
carrying with it
the electricity
of our souls.

Hazelnut Gourmet Coffee: A Memory

The aroma of the deep forest awakens nature's child,
rousing the ecologist hibernating
under layers of materialism.

The taste of autumn's bounty caresses my tongue,
flows down my throat,
warming each passing blood vessel,
and spills into my body's furnace

Angels Beckon

White wings against an azure sky!
Are the cumulonimbi,
Or God's messengers beckoning?

God messengers beckoning,
To the believers of every race and nation,
To the righteous of every sect and religion.

Distant thunder reverberates!
Is it the warning of a storm,
Or angelic trumpets?

Angelic trumpets calling,
To the scattered remnants of humanity,
To assemble in peace and unity.

In The Midst Of All The Recklessness

Once,
in the midst of all the recklessness
of daily living
I questioned reality.

I took out a microscope
and examined
my concept of divinity,
my concept of humanity,
and my concept of myself.

I ask my soul the hard questions:
Can I love God,
if I don't love myself?
Am I investigating truth
for myself?
What is family?

Once,
in the midst of all the recklessness
of daily living
I questioned reality,
and I haven't been the same
since.

Today I am Grateful For

Today I am grateful for morning,
for the memory of pleasant dreams,
and the chill of a winter's dawn breeze.

Today I am grateful for laughter,

Today I am grateful for prayers

which scatters the uncertainties of doubt.

Memories Underfoot

These are the memories that lay underfoot,
the memories I stumble over when waking up.
A black and white long haired cat,
whose purr vibrated the house
when he wanted to to toss him
a furry toy mouse.

These are the memories that lay underfoot,
the memories I scramble when waking up.
Taking eggs from beneath a hen
she set there glaring at me
she wanted to hat the eggs I know,
that that was never to be.

This Much I Know

This much I know!
Lowe is the only true magic there is.

This much I know!
Faith is breathing without air.

This much I know!
Without love and faith this life is merely existing.

This much I know!
Each individual has their own secret knowledge gained from experience.

This much I know!
Each individual is put on earth for a purpose.

This much I know!
When I read the Holy Scriptures of each religion,
I feel the Holy Spirit echoing.

This much I know!
The known to one individual can be speculation to another.

This much I know!
There is one God with many names.

This much I know!
Each star has its planets and each planet its own life forms.

This much I know!
A woman's intuition is important to a woman's survival.

This much I know!
Some people believe faith and speculation are the same thing.

This much I know!
Intuition allows the individual to know many things,
but you must accept intuition as a fact.

Evening Shadows

Growing with Earth's slow rotation
shadows reach for the days lost youth,
like an elderly woman reminiscing
about the joys of yesterday.

Disappearing as night advances

like the disappointment of a elderly man,
letting go of yesterdays fears.

My Muse Is A Skin Changer

I discovered that my muse is a skin changer. It morphs into another creature or item with each genre and subject I write in or about.

When I write about nature, my muse becomes an olive tree. As the wind blows through its leaves my words are transformed into bires nesting in its branches.

When I write poetry, my muse becomes a timber wolf stalking stanza and line through the forest of metaphor and simile.

When I write a personal essay, my muse is transformed into a crown of glory illuminating a snow capped peak . As the crown disappears in morning's light, the rays of the sun melts the snow blocking the paths of my creativity.

Ever day and every hour, my muse changes revealing a different aspect with each story, article, essay, or poem I write. I never know in what guise my muse will appear until it materializes. Knowing this about my muse, has helped me to recognize it when it appears to me.

Thistledown

Growth occurs in the silent hours
when the mind pauses to reflect
on the day's events.

My eyes focus on a white cloud
moving across the firmament.

I watch it change,
as sections are torn from the main mass
by the wind in the upper atmosphere;
I watch it become wisps of gossamer
against the blue sky.

That could is my illusions
ripped apart by the day's events
leaving behind thistledown
to be dispersed
by the reality of my actions.

Earth's Blessing

A rainbow arc spreads across the firmament,
voices praise in a thousand dialects
this paradigm of God's ancient covenant.

Voices raise intoning God's trillion names--
glorifying the mirrors of His attribute--
as they cross the bridge that connects
the rift valley that separates
into sects
the religion of God.

A rainbow spreads across Earth's continents,
mystic dance--
accompanied by castanets, bells, tambourines, lutes,
lyres, harps, dijeridus, bagpipes, musical bows,
reed flutes, talking drums, etc.--
as echoes reverberate and voices unite
into a single symphony
proclaiming that there is not a place on Earth
unblessed by the mention
of one of God's names.

In the music of children,
we live in unity:

A Divine Creation

The soul is a divine creation!
A single undivided substance
that has neither beginning nor ending.

Its association,
with the body begs at conception.

The soul's association
with the body,
educates the human spirit;
gives it a chance to develop
the attributes
God endowed it with.

When the body dies
the spirit,
the soul,
ascend into the next world
taking with it
the attributes it developed
while in association
with the physical body.

My Second Midlife Crises

This one is going to be fun!

New experiences
to lift my soul
out of its brown study;
out of the silent darkness
of the uncreated
and carry it
into the joyous chaos of action.

New experiences
to jump start my self-esteem,
and put my ego beyond
self absorption
into the realm of humanity.

New experiences
to split the atoms of fear
and melt
the elements of self-consciousness.

In the process of becoming
my true self,
I give birth to a new belief system
and the process of healing
kicks Humpty Dumpty off the wall of selfishness.

Lie Exists

The miracle is that life exists!
It exists as coral on the ocean floor,
It exists as flowers in a hidden meadow,
and as trees on a snow capped mountain peak.

Life exists concealed in empty space!
It exists hidden from human eyes,
It exists concealed in the stone of comets,
It exists hidden as modules in asteroids,
and as living creatures on distant planets.

Life exist in the midnight of our fears,
It exists in the awesome joy of our hopes,
And in every direction of reality.

Life exists as a procedure to the enlightened,
It exists as a confirmation to the faithful,
And as instructions to the seeker.

Life exist in every corner of the universe;
It exists in every possible and impossible echo system;
And in an incalculable amount.

Life exists as humanity:
Humanity a single group,
and a single species sharing one planet.

Life exists under strenuous conditions,
That give a poet pause to think
and to immediately express the universe:
"We are the universe expressing itself!"

Divine Love

God's love is a pericarp,
A seed pod ready to burst,
To open the seeker's heart,
To faith's unquenchable thrust.

Love for God: a lighting rod,
Attached to the seeker's soul,
Attracting the love of God,
Revealing the seeker's goal.

God's love: a gravity well,
That captures the seeker's soul,
Then te4sts the seeker's will,
Obedience to God's goal.

Divine love is a guiding light,
Allows the seeker to move,
To ascend in joyous flight,
To pursue its goal: God's love.

Thoughts on Nothing

Nothing can be achieved without the aid of God
One achieves nothing by doing nothing.
There is nothing more important then proclaiming the name of the Ancient Beauty.
Hope achieves nothing without action.
If no mistakes are being made it means nothing is being done.
Nothing can be achieved without obedience to God's Manifestation.
Good intentions alone achieve nothing.

Echoes From The Soul

Poetry is echoes from my soul,
descending through mind's corridors,
Whispering to my animal brain,
melodies of spiritual reality.

Rhyme is the right brain's interpretation,
of music descending from my spirit.
rhythms whose immortal melodies,
transcend physical reality.

Verse is the left brain's translation,
of echoes descending from my soul,
words cannot adequately express,
spiritual reality.

The depth of our darkness,

reveals the brightness of our light.

DNA: A Poem

Variegated threads entwine,
brad themselves
into rainbow cords of light,
weave themselves
into spiral stair cases
that reflect
cosmic diversity
and divine harmony.

My neighborhood is silent

Overcoming Worry

Intone the prayers of salvation,
Place all your troubles in the hands
Of the Glory of God,
And listen to the voice of faith,
Whispering "All is well!"
Or "It's going to be alright!"

Birth of a Poem

Sometimes,
the verses are born
fully formed ready to
be written in black words on white paper.

Most time,
I see their conception,
nurture them through the embryonic stage
and bring them forth into reality.

Blessing or Curse

Memory can be
a blessing or a curse;
it depends on  us.

We can dwell
on bad recollections
and be unhappy.

Or we can
focus on good memories
and be happy.

Begins with God

Is the focal point of mankind's

Universal Melody

Life is an echoing melody,
Reverberating through the Universe;
God is the unseen player,
Of the instrument of evolution.

Meditation on Life in the Universe

Matter's spiral connects
gender to gender,
forming the double helix
that connects generation to generation.

Life is a spiral ascending
the ladder of evolution;
ring by ring Being climbs
out of the mire of matter.

Nebula by nebula
planetary systems condense:
are born into the realm of matter.

Star by star
life forms advance:
climb the spiral of evolution.

Love's Secret Garden

Love has a secret garden
Where the flowers of eternity grow
I walk through this garden
I inhale the fragrance of faith
Roses open in the light of morning
Close as the sun sets in the west
Sleep comes on cats’ feet

Friday: A Poem

Freya's day; the sixth day of creation;
Independence; weeks flower closing;
Thank God it’s Friday; workweek ends;
A wilted bloom in love’s garden;
An echo in the corridors of time;
Vesper day of the universe; joy;
Evening song of the workweek;
Looking forward to the weekend.
Freedom’s echo; autumn song of the week.

Movement Forward

Each day I journey toward a distant crest,
Only at sunset do I dare rest,
A moment of pray before moving on
Step by step I advance toward my goal.

Earth's Pain

Listen carefully
You can hear Earth’s scream echoing
Off the tops of mountains.

Listen to her agony
As mountain tops are removed
To feed corporation’s bottom line.

Listen as her pain
Reverberates
Through atmosphere and mantel,
As her children
Obedient to the gods of greed
Behead her mountains
And fracture her stone hard bones.

Fighter jets echo

While locals smile
Remembering we live close
To an Air Force base

Sometimes

Sometimes I get tired of being me
I just want to be
A woman who is free
Unencumbered by responsibility.

Sometimes I don’t want to be me
I want to act irresponsibly
And to on a spending spree.
