The Age I Live In

I contemplate the age
in which I love;
the need for love and unity,
and respect for the planet.

I weep,
and I ask myself:
"How do I contribute
to the needs of the present day?"

This poem was inspired by a quote from Baha'u'llah. A copy of this poem can be found in the journal Writing in Snow, which is under the folder Awardicon Items, in my writing.com port. I am Prosperous Snow.

Father's Day 2018

Happy Father's Day, Daddy.
I miss you.
I've missed you all my life.
You ascended into heaven in 1998,
I am sending my love to you
by saying prayers for your soul.

Pain

The steed of the Valley of Love
is chomping at the bit
waiting for the rider
to place a saddle on it.

Getting Through the Day

Getting through the day
I pause to say a prayer,
listen to music:
attempt to drive away the blues.

Poetry Critique

Intertwined
among the wander lines
of interrupted reality

Allusions
indicating a bard's
perspective

Soul Tracks

The soul leaves traces:
prehistoric paintings
etched on the walls of caves,
red ochre
scattered in graves,
rock art carved
on the walls of desert canyons.

The soul leaves traces:
subtle essence to guide
the open minded,
the unsure,
and the seeker after truth.

The soul leaves traces:
for the artist who has eyes to see,
for the poet who has ears to hear,
and the agnostic on the road to faith.

Sacraments

I rise to greet the morning
God's Most Great Name on my lips
and His splendor lights
the predawn darkness.

His words,
memorized from daily reading,
flow through my mind confirming
His shelter,
His protection,
and the glory of His presence.

Reading the Prayers of Baha'u'llah

I read the words of the Blessed Beauty,
My spirit flies to the throne of God,
Unity becomes a reality,
And humanity becomes my family.

What Makes Me Happy?

Placing my problems
in the hands of the Blessed Beauty,
reading the revealed Words of the Almighty,
and taking action that the Holy Spirit reveals.

Silence

The interval
between the axon's transmission
and the dendrite' reception.

The pause
between the blue tinged sky
and the sun's rising.

The space
between the characters
of a word.

Celebrating the Day of Glory and the Month of Grandeur

I intone prayers
revealed by the Pen of Glory,
the Blessed Beauty.

I intone prayers
celebrating the month of Grandeur,
the day of Glory.

Each day of the week
commemorates an attribute of God,
and each month of the year
a characteristic of the Almighty.

Every day of the week,
and of the month
is a reason to celebrate;
a reason for praising
the Lord of Glory.

In the Winter of My Life

In the winter of my life,
I contemplate the sacred writing
revealed by Baha'u'llah
and weep.

I cry
because I know,
that no matter how long I have left
on the physical plane,
I will never be able to read
and meditate on
more than 1%
of those scriptures.
