August memories
Kamál (Perfection), 1 Kamál (Perfection), 167 BE – Monday, August 1, 2011 about 7:25 PM Pacific Time
August always brings back memories. The memories that I have now concern attending the Feast of Kamal (Perfection). I miss attending the nineteen-day feast; I remember attending the Feast of Perfection with my mother. Now, Mom is usually in bed by 5:30 or 6:00 PM and since I cannot leave her alone; I stay home as well.
Mom likes the prayers revealed by Baha’u’llah, since she has difficulty reading the prayer book I read the prayers for her. She sits next to me on the couch and listens. I know she hears me because, even when she is not wearing her hearing aids, she sits quietly and listens. She also smiles when I am reading the prayers.

The Feast of Will
Kamál (Perfection), 1 Mashíyyat (Will), 167 BE – Monday, September 27, 2010 about 9:23 AM Pacific Time
Mom and I attended the Feast of Mashiyyat, the Feast of Will, last night. Mom wore her hearing aid, she wanted me to take it out of her ear before we left the house, but I didn’t. Mom was a bit upset for a little while; however, she got over that once we were out of the house. Mom was interested in the traffic and the lack of wind driving to the Feast.
On the way to the nineteen-day Feast, I picked up some instant potatoes at the 99¢ Only Store. This helped to keep Mom’s mind off her hearing aid. Mom likes to watch the people in parking lots and she likes to comment on the colors of the cars she sees.
Mom didn’t read at the Feast because she doesn’t see very well. When we go to the Feast of ‘Ilm, I have to remember to put Mom’s magnifying glass in her purse. Mom uses the glass to help her read and if she has the glass with her she can read the writings if she is asked and wants to read rather then just listen.
Mom enjoyed listening to the readings last night. Mom always enjoys attending the Feast and she is always in a better mood the following day. The feeling at Feast is spiritual and tranquil. The Feast of Mashiyyat (Will) is tonight

The Feast of Mashiyyat (Will) is tonight at 7:30 PM. I made plans for Mom and me to attend, but now I'm not sure. Mom is having an especially difficult morning. The morning didn't start out like this. Mom was in a good mood when she woke up, but her mood suddenly changed. Mom's moods usually swing back and forth all day long, but this morning she seemed much more angry then usual.
When Mom's angry her anger increases if I offer to help, she doesn't want me in her room. Therefore, I check to make sure she is alright. The anger has pass for a little while, but I don't know how long this mood is going to last. Mom takes Alzheimer's medication, I think the medication is working, but I have to do a little more research.
We're going to the Feast tonight. Mom always enjoys feast and her mood is more positive after we attend. It's just getting her ready to attend. Mom likes to wear jewelry and she can't find some of her earrings. She had a couple of pairs yesterday, but I'm not sure where they are today. Mom moves them and then forgets where she puts the earrings.

The Feast of Names

Last night, Mom and I attended the Feast of Asmá’ (Names). Before we went to the Feast, I stopped at the pharmacy to pick up Mom's medication and a couple of bottles of Arizona Iced Tea. After we left the pharmacy, we went to the Feast. The sun was shining almost directly into my eyes as I drove west on Charleston, so I missed my turn and had to take a slightly different route to the house where the Feast of Names was held, but we arrived safely at the Feast location.
Mom enjoys going to the nineteen-day feast. Her favorite parts of the Feast are the spiritual portion and the social portion. The hostess severed strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream. Mom ate two bowls and drink coffee. I had forgotten how good homemade whipped cream tastes. I am going to have to make some whipped cream myself.
Mom slept well last night; she did not wake up crying because of a bad dream. Mom always sleeps well after we attend the Feast.

Mom and I went to the Feast of 'Ilm, the Feast of Knowledge, last night. The drive to the 19-day feast was enjoyable. I found the location of the Feast without difficulty. Feast was a nice change after a stressful day.

I have a lot of catching up to do in Mashiyyat

I have a lot of catching up to do in the next nineteen days. There are some thing I should just let drop and not go any further with them, but I probably won't. All right, it's my own fault that I'm behind and that doesn't make catching up any easier. I'm not sure what the problem is, at this point. I'll figure that out by the end of Mashiyyat.
Tonight is the Feast of Mashiyyat, my mother and I are going. I'm not letting attendance at the nineteen-day feast slide simply because I'm behind. Eventually I'll catch up and even get ahead, it will take a little time, but I will catch up and get ahead.

The first day of Might

It's the first day of Might, the first day of 'Izzat. We, my other and I, attended the Feast of 'Izzat (Might) last night. We enjoyed the Feast; we always enjoy the nineteen-day Feast. There were three announcements of upcoming events, so I have three items to add to my planning calendar this morning.
Because I over slept this morning, I got a late start. I'm not sure how much of my "To Do List" I'm going to achieve today. I'm going to have to redo some of the items for 'Izzat anyway. Another thing I'm going to do is calculate interruptions into my writing and housekeeping time.
I'm going to schedule writing sessions for five or ten minutes at a time. If my memory is working correctly, I can write only about five minutes without encountering an interruption of some type. The same thing goes with housekeeping chores. Therefore, if I schedule a job with the interruptions included then I might be able to get something accomplished.

The Feast of Names

It's a beautiful warm day in Las Vegas. My mother and I attended the Feast of Asmá’, the Feast of Names, last night at the Baha'i Center. The nineteen-day Feast was spiritual and refreshing. I feel renewed and optimistic this morning.
I woke up about 6:36 AM a bit later then usually. I normally wake up between 4:00 and 5:00 AM. Since I attended, Feast last night the day started out good. Already in Asmá’ I have written two poems, one for a contest on writing.com and the other about the Feast of Names.
Joy reverberates
across my soul echoing
the Feast memory.

Kamal is drawing to a close

The Feast of Asma (Names) is Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM. The month of Kamal 166 BE is ending. I have written over 90 poems so far this month. My poetry journal contains 90 poems, but I know I've written more because I've post poems to my blogs that I haven't put in the poetry journal.
I have did a lot of writing this month because I know I've submitted about 27 items to contests on writing.com. I completed the August fantasy newsletter on Sunday and submitted it. Now I have to decide on a subject for my edition of the September newsletter. However, I think I'll let the newsletter subject rest for a while and focus on other things.
Right now, I'm tired. I think it's because I gave blood yesterday and I just need to build myself up again. Today we're having beans, I hope that helps build up my iron count. Since I'm not scheduled to give blood again until December I'm not going to worry about the iron count and just eat what I want for a few days. Today I want beans, seasoned with pigs feet. Tomorrow I may want something else.

We attended the Feast of Kamal last night

We (Mom and I) attended the Feast of Kamal last night. The feast was spiritual and we both enjoyed ourselves. I enjoyed the drive to the nineteen-day feast and back home. I'm looking forward to the next Feast as well.
I always enjoy going to the Feast, sometimes the drive is an issue, but it wasn't last night. In fact, I'm considering a poem about driving to feast. I'm just not sure how to start it, so I will pick out a poem form and use that to write "Driving to Feast". That's the working title of the poem, I may change the name after I finish writing. I'll have to check my poetry books to see what form I want to use.

Grandeur is coming to an end
Kamál (Perfection), 17 ‘Azamat (Grandeur), 165 B.E. – Monday, June 2, 2008 about 6:49 PM PDT
The month of 'Azamat (Grandeur) is coming to an end, on the evening of June 4 at about sunset the month of Nur (Light) begins. The Feast of Nur will occur at about 7:30 PM in the home of a friend. "God willing and the creeks don't rise" I am going to the Feast of Nur.
I didn't go to the Feast of 'Azamat because I spent the entire evening and most of the next day with the dry heaves. I picked up a 24-hour bug from someplace. I know it was a 24-hour bug because precisely 24 hours after they begin they ended.
As I said, "God willing and the creeks don't rise" I am going to the Feast of Nur. Of course, in Las Vegas it isn't the creeks rising that you have to worry about. The problem here is clogged storm drains, backing the water up across the streets. I don't think there is any rain expected in the near future, all though, we could have some broken water mains that could flood the streets.
I'm looking forward to going to the Feast. I'm not sure with portion I enjoy the most, that usually depends on how I'm feeling the night of the Feast. Usually I enjoy the spiritual portion and the readings from the scriptures most, but the other two portions are nice also. There is always a spiritual feeling about the entire feast no matter where it is held.

Driving to The Feast of Masa'il

I went to the Feast of Masa'il last night at the Baha'i Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Feast of Masa'il (Questions) started at 7:00 PM. Since I assisted in hosting the Feast my Mom and I arrived at about 6:00 PM. I drove west on Charleston almost all the way, but not all the way to Rainbow. I turned on south on Decatur and then west on Oakey.
The reason for that was the Christmas yard art that homeowners display along parts of Oakey. This time of year the yards and houses in residential neighborhoods are beautiful. Some of the houses have different colored lights around the windows and along the edges of their roofs. However, it's the decorations in the yards that are the most beautiful. There are light statues of reindeer, there are manger scenes and the trees are covered with lights.
That's the reason I took the route I did to the Baha'i Center. The decorations in the yards usually go up after Thanksgiving and taken down after December 25. I enjoy seeing the Christmas decorations in the yards. It brings back memories of my childhood and my grandparents. I usually write a poem every year about the Christmas yard decorations. I'm not sure what type of poem I'll write this year, but I think I'll write one about the yard art in my own neighborhood. There are two beautifully decorated yards close to me. Just down the street is one. I'm looking to writing about it this year.

December Feast

There are two Feast in December, on the evening of Tuesday, December 11, is the Feast of Masa'il and at 7:30 PM on Sunday, December 30, is the Feast of Sharaf. I'm looking for ward to both of these Feast. I like attending Feast, but I'm not sure which portion is my favorite; sometimes the spiritual portion, sometimes the business portion, and sometimes the social portion.
The Feast of Masa'il on the 11th is at the Baha'i Center. I'm looking forward to both the Feast and the drive to the Center. The drive is especially beautiful this time of year because of all the houses that are decorated for Christmas. When I go to the Center I usually take Oakey and most of that street is residential. During the Christmas season the houses are decorated with all sorts of colored lights. Some of the yards have different Christmas theme light art in them.
I think I like looking at all the decorated yards because it brings back memories of my childhood. My grandfather used to take us driving through Blackwell around Christmas time to see all the yard and house decorations. The Christmas light art has become much or sophisticated since Grandpa Newland took us around Blackwell, but seeing the decorated yards brings back pleasant memories of my childhood. I'm going to enjoy driving to Feast on Tuesday.
