The Festival of Paradise
has begun,
Nightingales of the All-Glorious,
raise your songs
in the rose garden
of the love of God.

Love's Secret Garden

Love has a secret garden
Where the flowers of eternity grow
I walk through this garden
I inhale the fragrance of faith
Roses open in the light of morning
Close as the sun sets in the west
Sleep comes on cats’ feet

Desert Sunset

The desert sunset highlights 

Tantalizing cactus gardens growing 

Agave, prickly pear, 

San Pedro, flat leafed Indian Fig Cactus. 

And rosemary. 

Sol's evening rays play 

In backyard gardens: 

Kissing Bougainvillea blooms. 

Transforming deep green Cannas leaves 

Into emerald images of mystery, 

Caressing Canary Island Palms, 

And variegated American Agave. 

The Walled Garden

In a stone walled garden 

By a round wading pool 

Resides a tall, slender red Yucca 

Next to a scarlet flowered dwarf bottle brush, 

A few feet away Sago Palm grows 

Surround by an Ocotillo, 

A stand of decorative deer grass, 

And a cherry laurel. 

All proclaiming 

The beauty of the desert. 

Listen to the Nightingale: A Poem

Listen to the voice of the Nightingale, 

Singing in the Garden of Paradise 

Inviting God's lovers 

To enter through the Gate, 

Which stands open 

To all who hear the trumpet proclaiming 

A New Heaven and Earth.
