Thankful Thursday Gratitude

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Today I am grateful

for Baha'u'llah,

and the prayers He revealed.

 

In Baha'u'llah's Name

 In Baha'u'llah's name I ask,
for the ability to teach God's Cause,
and for guidance to us my talents
in accordance with God's will.

In Baha'u'llah's name I ask,
to be independent of all save God,
and to love humanity.

In Baha'u'llah's name I ask,
for help the walk the Path of Faith,
and strength to serve the cause of God.

How Has Baha'u'llah Blessed Me?

 He has answered all of my questions,
With the pen of His revelation.

On an April Afternoon

On a sleepy April afternoon,
I listen to the songs of faith
proclaiming Baha'u'llah,
and extolling the joy  of Ridvan.

I hasten to thee, O my Lord,
raising prayers of gratitude
for the revelation of the Pen of Glory,
and His declaration
in the Garden of Ridvan.

On a warm April afternoon,
I give thanks for being born in this day,
and for being finding Baha'u'llah,
the Glory of God.

Reading Plan for The Call of the Divine Beloved

I open
The Call of the Divine Beloved:
Selected ted Mystical Works of Baha'u'llah.

I look at the table of contents,
I study the titles of each section,
and I wonder where to begin.

I know this book will be a slow read,
because I will read each section
several time.

I will read each section over and over.
I will meditate on each phrase,
each sentence,
each metaphor,
and each simile.

As I read each section over,
I will write poems
dedicated to Baha'u'llah,
the Divine Beloved.

Writing Poetry is a Spiritual Experience

For me
writing poetry
is a spiritual experience.

I pray,
intoning the prayers
revealed by Baha'u'llah,
the Bab,
or 'Abdu'l-Baha.

I think,
I meditate,
I contemplate,
and I let min intuition find
the title,
or the first line,
or the rhyme.

I write
allowing my soul's insight
to discover
the rhythm,
the metaphors,
and the similes.

On the Nineteenth Day of Fast

I contemplate the coming year
full of joy, hope, and sharing
the word of Baha'u'llah
on the unity of humanity.

Inspiration

Inspiration falls
like the spring's warm rain
when I read the words of Baha'u'llah.

Food for My Soul

Word by word,
sentence by sentence,
paragraph by paragraph,
and page by page
I consume food of the spirit
revealed by Baha'u'llah.

The scripture of the Blessed Beauty
feed my soul
with the bread of life,
and wine of immortality.

My Sanctuary: The Writings of Baha'u'llah

In the words of Baha'u'llah,
I find a fortress safe and strong
where the cares and strife of modern life
neither linger nor belong.

His words inspire my heart to find
the love that hate conceals,
His pen inscribes upon my spirit
the faith that tests reveal.

His verses are my sanctuary
bestowing peace on mind and soul,
His sacred scriptures God's book of laws
to which obedience is my goal.

Invocation: To Baha'u'llah

O Glory of God!
I feel the Holy Spirit's power
flowing through Your words.
Awestruck
my soul falls prostrate begging
Your for forgiveness.

O Lord of Host!
When I read Your verses,
I hear trumpets echoing taps and reveille;
I see the old heaven rolled up,
the old earth passed away,
and the new spread out.

Daily Affirmations: To Baha'u'llah

Baha'u'llah, without your love to guide me
my future is dark
hidden in fear and despair.

So just for today
I will look for y our guidance
to the paths of righteousness.

Baha'u'llah, without your scriptures
I'm a prisoner of ego
chained to my own desires.

So just for today
I will read your sacred words
seeking the freedom of faith.

To Know God

The goal of my soul
is to know and love God,
but how can I,
a creature of matter
know that which is pure spirit.

Knowledge of God
comes to me
and the rest of humanity
through God' Manifestations
who in this age
are The Bab and Baha'u'llah.

I Smile

I smile through the pain
I cannot let the darkness gain
a hold on my soul.

I call on Baha'u'llah,
intoning prayers for healing,
prayers asking forgiveness,
and prayers beseeching assistance.

I smile
knowing that the All Glorious Lord
will answer my prayers.

I Want To Give Up

I want to give up!
I want to stop fighting
the inevitable
and accept defeat.

It wouldn't be hard to give up,
to sit down on the battle field
and not fight any more.

Instead of giving up,
I'll open my prayer book,
turn to the Tablet of Ahmad,
and intone the prayer.

Instead of giving up,
I'll place my trust in Baha'u'llah,
and see what else I need to do
the change my situation.

Two Poems A Day

One hundred and seven days
to write one hundred and sixty four poems:
Is this possible?

Withe the help of Baha'u'llah
and the Bab,
I believe it is.

If I write two poems a day
it will take me eighty-two days,
that will give me twenty-five days
to review what I have written
to celebrate
the Bicentenary of the Birth of the Bab.

The Catalyst

Two centuries have passed
since His birth in Shiraz,
and humanity moves toward unity.

His birth in 1819,
and His death in 1850
were the catalyst
to humanity's transformation.

This year we celebrate
the Bicentenary of the Birth of the Bab,
who--along with Baha'u'lllah--
has created a vision of unity
for humanity.

The Joy of Finding Baha'u'llah

The joy of finding Baha'u'llah
vibrates through my soul,
reverberates through my mind,
shattering doubt and fear,
and regenerating love and faith.

The Second Day of Ridvan

The wind intones
the joyful news proclaiming
the Glory of God.

In the Garden of Paradise,
Baha'u'llah proclaimed His mission
now we all give thanks.
