Meditation on the Speed of Thought

From dendrite to axon
thought moves
at a turtle's pace.

Thought moves
from section to section
doing the snail crawl
to its destination.

At 2 1/2 inches
in 900 milliseconds
(the time it takes
to move a finger)
thought moves
from hemisphere to hemisphere,
carrying with it
the electricity
of our souls.
