I Write of My Beloved

I write of my Beloved
Through whom my fingers bend
To pick up my pen!

I write of my salvation
Using ink drawn from my own veins
To document my liberation!

I write of my pain
Caused by my ego's attempt to gain
My soul's allegiance!

I write of my fears
Caused by the disempowering years
In Self's prison!

What Will I Write?

What will I write today?
Will I write a poem or a rant?
Will I write prose or an essay?

My muse has gone AWL,
left for part unknown,
took a trip to another galaxy
or perhaps another universe.

I'll take a momentary break
to say a prayer
and see if my smartphone
is completely charged.

Hopefully,
by the time I return
my muse will have come home.

My Notepad App

Midnight
time to write
phrases and lines,
I don't have to turn on the light
I can compose poetry
using my smartphone's notepad app.

Write it Today

That idea that is so near right now;
Will leave for part unknown;
Unless you write it down today.

Thursday Poem

I don't want to watch world news today,
I just want to write and pray.

I might write a poem,
story,
or essay
about something positive
I have to say.

I will take a walk in the house,
because the excessive heat warning
prevents me from going out.

This poem is also posted in Writing in Snow under Awardicon Items in my Writing.com port. I am Prosperous Snow.

July

July,
a new Gregorian month,
with thirty-one days
to pray,
to write,
and to read the sacred scriptures.

July,
with triple digit temperatures,
fireworks,
and picnics
to celebrate
Independence Day
in the United States.

This poem is, also, posted in the journal Writing in Snow in my writing.com portfolio in the folder Awardicon Items. I am Prosperous Snow.

I Write with the Help of God

‘Idál (Justice), 3 Bahá (Splendour), 174 BE - Wednesday, March 22, 2017 CE about 5:22  PM Pacific Daylight Time

The subject of this week's edition of the writing.com spiritual newsletter was "Inspirational Writing". The editor discussed the difficulty of writing spiritual and inspirational pieces. This got me to thinking about my writing which sometimes covers these subjects. I find it difficult to write about these subjects unless I have a personal experience to convey.

I write with the help of God
Stating my experiences and beliefs
As clearly as I am able
At any given moment.

I write with the help of God's Glory
Prayerfully attempting to say
What I understand
At any given  moment.

Midweek Reflections: Sometimes It's Difficult to Write

'Idal (Justice), 11 Bahá (Splendour), 173 BE - Wednesday, March 30, 2016 about 3:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time

Sometimes
it's difficult to write
especially in the afternoon.

Is it because
I need a a nap
or to take a long walk
to the corner and back,
which I can't do
in summer
because Las Vegas
experiences
triple digit temperatures.

Summary Saturday: A Good Week

Jalal (Glory), 17 Asmá’ (Names), 172 BE - Saturday, September 5, 2015 5:13 pm Pacific Daylight Time

It was a very good week for writing poetry. I completed five poems between August 31 and September 1. I also finished a 600+ word story. I have another poem to complete today if I can figure out the subject. I have considered and rejected two subjects so far today. One of the subjects was about my luck Harley-Davidson cap and the other was about a chartreuse dress which I cannot find so I must have given the dress away because it was either too big or too small.

The theme is something that happened fifteen years ago in 2000. The reason I rejected the Harley cap is because I think I received the cap at a later date. I know I received the cap during an election year, but I cannot remember which one. I think I will go with a wedding subject for this poem because I know I attended a wedding in 2000. That was the year my one of my brothers got married, so Mom and I attended the wedding. Now if I can remember everything that I need to put in the poem I will be find.

The deadline for the poem is September 6 at 9:00 am PDT, so I guess I better get started now that I have decided on the subject. I do not remember having this much trouble with the subject for the other five poems I wrote this week, but then once I write a poem I forget about the difficulties I encounter when I write it. This is probably one of the reasons I continue to write poems.

Saturday Summary: May 2015

Jalal (Glory), 14 Aẓamat (Grandeur), 172 BE - Saturday, May 30, 2015 about 10:05 am Pacific Daylight Time

Shall I
recapitulate,
perhaps I should write
encapsulate,
the merry month of May.

Was May 2015 a merry, joyful, or happy month? As I look back over the past twenty-nine days, I wonder if merry is a good way to describe May. The weather was nice, which in Las Vegas means that we did not experience triple digit temperatures. According to the weather forecast, this is supposed to change today. Temperatures across the valley are supposed to rise into the triple digits with the high expected to be about 103 degrees Fahrenheit.

What shall I write
about May
that hasn't already been said.

For me, May is passing successfully. I still have $10.00 in my purse. I ate my first watermelon, which I received at one of the food banks, of the year. My checking account was not overdrawn. I wrote several romance stories (a new genre for me). I wrote several poems and one was a romantic poem.

A Good Day to Write and Pray

It's a good day to write,
it's a good day to pray,
it's a good day to worship God
in any way.

It's a good Tuesday morning! I look out my window and see the beautiful blue sky, the shadows cast by the sun as it ascends over Sunrise Mountain, and watch the cars drive past my house. I wonder where the people in the cars are going this early in the morning. I know some of them are going to work, but the traffic is heavier in t his residential neighborhood then normal.

It's a good day to write
about the beauty of morning
and to worship God
through the written word.

I haven't seen anyone walking the children to school yet, but I did see a yellow school bus drive past. Therefore, I expect to see parents and groups of children going to the grade school that's about three or four blocks away. When I move, I'll miss looking out my living room window and seeing parents walking their children to school each weekday morning.

My Method of Mourning

Jalál (Glory), 9 Qawl (Speech), 169 BE – Saturday, December 1, 2012 about 9:20 A.M. Pacific Time

My mother died on the morning of November 29, 2012. On the afternoon, of November 30, 2012 we, my sister, one brother, and I, with the help of someone from the mortuary, planned Mom’s funeral. This morning, I wrote a poem about her soul ascending into paradise and submitted it to a contest on writing.com.

As I was reading the poem again, after someone reviewed it, I realized that my method of mourning was to write. My method of dealing with anything is to write. Sometimes I find writing difficult in the middle of a crisis, but if I push on and let one word follow another then I can cope with the situation. I just have to place everything in God’s hands, sit down at the computer, open a document, and write.

Sometimes it’s difficult to write about the tests I’m facing in the midst of the crisis, at those time I have to write about something else or begin a free write. If I use a free write then eventually the problem show up in the writing and I find a solution or comfort.

It must be the Weather in Las Vegas

Fidál (Grace), 12 Kalimát (Words), 169 BE – Tuesday, July 24, 2012 about 5:25 PM Pacific Time

I am not feeling like myself today. I do not want to do anything except remain home and do nothing. It took at least four cups of coffee this morning plus a bowl of cereal with milk and sugar. I was not hunger the rest of the day, but I still did not want to do anything. It must be the weather.

The temperature rose into the triple digits before the monsoonal moister and clouds rolled in. The temperature went back down into the double digits with high humidity, clouds, and wind. My allegories are acting up and I just want to be lazy; however, I did get some work accomplished this morning.

This morning I washed four sheets and hung them over chairs to dry. Then I washed my hair, but I do not think that made me feel better. My hair looks better, so I should be feeling better. I am not. I do not know what I am going to eat this evening because I am not hungry. I feel tired, not sleepy so I do not want to lye down. I do not want to watch television either. The only other things for me to do are wash clothes, surf the web, or write.
