What Will I Write?

What will I write today?
Will I write a poem or a rant?
Will I write prose or an essay?

My muse has gone AWL,
left for part unknown,
took a trip to another galaxy
or perhaps another universe.

I'll take a momentary break
to say a prayer
and see if my smartphone
is completely charged.

Hopefully,
by the time I return
my muse will have come home.

Poet's Intuition

Sometimes,
a poet has to follow her intuition
in writing an ode.

Is a poet's intuition
her muse?

I can't answer that question,
because there a times
when I call it my muse
and other times I call it
intuition.

Beacons

Stars twinkle,
glittering diamonds
in a black velvet sky.

Planet burn holes
in the ebony blanket of night.

planes fly
across the firmament,
their precious gem lights
beacons guiding the mind
to a conclusion.

Each item
has a specific attribute
identifying it to the observer.

Each is a beacon
to the poet's muse.

My Muse Is A Skin Changer

I discovered that my muse is a skin changer. It morphs into another creature or item with each genre and subject I write in or about.

When I write about nature, my muse becomes an olive tree. As the wind blows through its leaves my words are transformed into bires nesting in its branches.

When I write poetry, my muse becomes a timber wolf stalking stanza and line through the forest of metaphor and simile.

When I write a personal essay, my muse is transformed into a crown of glory illuminating a snow capped peak . As the crown disappears in morning's light, the rays of the sun melts the snow blocking the paths of my creativity.

Ever day and every hour, my muse changes revealing a different aspect with each story, article, essay, or poem I write. I never know in what guise my muse will appear until it materializes. Knowing this about my muse, has helped me to recognize it when it appears to me.

Creative Saturday: Raining on my Muse

Jalál (Glory), 12 Mulk (Dominion), 173 BE - Saturday, February 18, 2017 CE about 12:55 PM Pacific Standard Time

Rainy Saturday
Creative meditations
Falling on my muse

It's a cloudy creative Saturday here in Las Vegas. The temperature is about 51 degrees with cold wet drops falling onto the tarmac in front of my apartment. The cars passing in front of the building sound as if they are moving through water. The street is wet but not flooded. I know that some of the other streets have standing water. I haven't driven the car today; however, this isn't necessary to know what the streets are like. I've lived in Las Vegas long enough to know how the water stands in the streets and the way it affects traffic.

Tuesday Ten: Reasons to Take an Afternoon Nap

Fiḍál (Grace), 9 Raḥmat (Mercy), 171 BE - Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - about 2:03 pm Pacific Daylight Time

01. My eyelids are heavy and want to close as I compose a blog entry, story, or poem.

02. I am yawning while I type these words into my blog document.

03. It is 106 degrees Fahrenheit here in Las Vegas, so there is no reason for me to go outside until it cools down.

04. If I get too sleepy there is a good chance I will go to sleep where I am sitting. If I do that then it is possible I will drool on my keyboard.

05. It is not a good idea to go to sleep sitting up in a kitchen chair because it is possible for me to fall out of the chair. (This happen a couple of times when I was living in the house on Bracken).

06. An afternoon nap is a good reason to put off going outside for the mail.

07. People who take naps in the afternoon can stay up until midnight without any problems.

08. Naps encourage dreaming and dreaming encourages my muse.

09. A nap is a pleasant and acceptable reason to procrastinate.

10. People who take naps are better rested and happier.

The Second Quarter of 2008

Jamál (Beauty), 16 ‘Azamat (Grandeur), 165 B.E. – Sunday, June 1, 2008 about 10:16 AM PDT

The second quarter of 2008 seems to be going well. I have learned a great deal about myself. For one thing, I apparently get board easily, especially when it comes to posting specific topics on specific days. I can do it for a week or two at a time, but then my muse wants to take a vacation and find something more interesting to write. I am going to continue using the themed entries I chose, just not on specific days. I will also intermingle other entries.

Another thing I found out about myself and my muse concerns worry. Worrying and fretting about a situation interferes with my writing as well. I have decided to handle the worrying with prayer. When I find myself worrying about something, I will stop and say a prayer. I will use one of the prayers revealed by either Baha'u'llah or the Bab. In fact, I think I will compile a prayer document.

The first step is to make an entry in my offline journal Writing My Spiritual Journey. I will put what I am worried about at the time and the prayer I decide to use. I will see at the end of June what writing I get done and what prayers say for each worry situation. I know most of the things I worry about, but it will be interesting to keep a written record for the next 30 days to see what changes occur in that pattern when I consciously apply prayer.

Checking my links

9 'Ilm 164 B.E. - Wednesday, October 24, 2007 about 11:47 AM PDT

I'm going to check all the links I've posted and adding a few new ones. I'm not sure what some of the links have to do with transformation, but I'm going to figure it out. I'll post my thoughts on that with an explanation of each link and why I included it in this blog.

Links on the sidebar

Since I posted the theme to this blog, I've thought about the links I included on the sidebar. I'm speculating what they have to do with transformation. I'm not sure I'll remove any just yet, but I'll write what I think their association with transformation is. The reason for checking them is simple, my muse wants a vacation. She isn't coming up with entries the way she should. So I figure if I check the links and add some new ones, maybe she will get back to work.

My Muse Transforms

My muse is a shape changer. She transforms periodically into something else. I know that sounds rather odd, but it's true. I never know what guise my muse is going to use from one time to the other. That forces me to look at everything I see to find something to write about.

Sometimes my muse doesn't want to stick to the theme of the blog, which could be the problem this time. I'm not sure so I'm going to look at everything. I'll try some writing exercises that relate to transformation or spirituality.
