A chill in the morning air
brings back memories of last night's dream
of my Grandparents
working together on a farm in Oklahoma.
I never saw the farm!
I remember once
Grandpa point out the land
where where the house and out buildings
once stood,
but in the dream
they were working together
and the buildings were standing
as the must have stood
when my Grandparents were first married.

To Sleep
To sleep!
Perchance to rest,
or at least dream
of a good night's sleep.
This is the elusive goal.

Dream About Going Home
There was something different
about the room,
a fundamental change in the arrangement
of the furniture
and other objects.
Everything appeared
to be in its proper place,
but something
had shifted
or been moved.
It wasn't
on the conscious
or visual level,
but on the subliminal.
A millimeter change
in the placement of the furniture.
Or was I
the one who had changed
in the decades
since I last visited
my Grandmother's house.
I've also posted this in the journal, Writing in Snow, under the folder Awardicon Items, in my writing.com portfolio. Visit My Portfolio @ Writing.Com

Perchance to Dream
On a night without stars
I am walking down the middle of a street,
with cars parked along both curbs
and talking to someone in a white van.
A large brown dog,
wearing a stamp with a politician's politician's picture on it,
is standing statue still in front of us.
Only the dog,
myself,
and the person in the van
are in my dream.
The dog bits my left leg,
and I am lost
in a river at dawn,
the light of the sun
glows so bright
that it blinds my mind.
On a night without stars,
I dream of a dog biting my leg,
and I am walking on azure waters
that chill the wind's hot tears.
Azure waters flow,
down slime wet halls,
washing away the charcoal terror
of night,
and red wine suges
across the glowing rime of winter.
Only the dog talks;
announces casting calls
for cost cutting
politicians.

On the First Day of Dominion
Jamal (Beauty), 1 Mulk (Dominion), 172 BE - Sunday, February 7, 2016 about 12:21 PM Pacific Standard Time
As I sit here listening to the neighborhood noises, I realize that I'm feeling better for the first time since Thursday. Apparently it's taken me that long to recover from the outpatient surgery I had on Thursday, February 4. I'm having peanut butter on English muffins, scones, orange slices, chocolate milk, and ice tea for breakfast this afternoon. It took me half a day to wake up, feel better, and get myself moving today.
I should know better then to go back to sleep when I'm setting up because that's when I have my weirdest and most memorable dreams. I'm not getting into the dream here because I may want to use it in a story or poem in the coming week. I know why I had the dream now all I have to do is figure what to do about it (other then putting it in my dream journal). Maybe I'll just let it rest for a while. I have more important things to deal with right now then a weird dream.
Beautiful Sunday

Midweek Reflects or The Hump Day Chronicles: Wednesday, July 2, 2014
‘Idál (Justice), 10 Raḥmat (Mercy), 171 BE - Wednesday, July 2, 2014 about 10:01 am Pacific Daylight Time
I thought up the title The Hump Day Chronicles this morning when I made an entry in Welcome to My Weird Life on writing.com. In that journal, I put a few of the things I accomplished early this morning. Since then I accomplished several more things including checking my bank account to see if the Cox Communications payment had came in. The account revealed that the bank was processing that draft. Therefore, the only thing I have to worry about is paying the power bill.
It has been an interesting and productive morning. I finished the breakfast dishes and washed out the electric fry pan. I still have to go out after today's mail, but I think I will wait until I go to my group meeting this afternoon. I have to finish a short story, do some reviews, and decide whether I will go to the laundromat tomorrow or shopping after I get out of the doctor's office at 8:00 am.
I have to stop at the bank tomorrow morning to pay the rent, so I may just as well get $20.00 in quarters for the washing machines. It won't take that much; however, if I get $20.00 then I will not have to go back to the bank for laundry money in July.
Speaking of laundry money, I had an unusual dream about money last night. I dreamed I found a $10.00 roll of quarters in my purse. I know it was quarters because the coins were too big for nickles, dimes, or pennies. I have not dreamed about finding money since I moved into this studio apartment. I do not know what the dream means, but I consider it a good sign since it is the first time I have had a dream like that this year.

Tuesday Ten: Reasons to Take an Afternoon Nap
Fiḍál (Grace), 9 Raḥmat (Mercy), 171 BE - Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - about 2:03 pm Pacific Daylight Time
01. My eyelids are heavy and want to close as I compose a blog entry, story, or poem.
02. I am yawning while I type these words into my blog document.
03. It is 106 degrees Fahrenheit here in Las Vegas, so there is no reason for me to go outside until it cools down.
04. If I get too sleepy there is a good chance I will go to sleep where I am sitting. If I do that then it is possible I will drool on my keyboard.
05. It is not a good idea to go to sleep sitting up in a kitchen chair because it is possible for me to fall out of the chair. (This happen a couple of times when I was living in the house on Bracken).
06. An afternoon nap is a good reason to put off going outside for the mail.
07. People who take naps in the afternoon can stay up until midnight without any problems.
08. Naps encourage dreaming and dreaming encourages my muse.
09. A nap is a pleasant and acceptable reason to procrastinate.
10. People who take naps are better rested and happier.

Afternoon nap
Istiqlál (Independence), 2 Asmá’ (Names), 166 BE – Friday, August 21, 2009 about 4:30 PM Pacific Time
I took a nap. It wasn't a long nap just about an hour, but I feel refreshed. Before the nap, I was sitting at the computer and I could hardly keep my eyes open. So I turned the computer off, took my teeth out and went to bed. Before I went to sleep, I said prayers.
I'm not sure whether I dreamed or not. I suspect I probably, but I don't remember the dreams. Sometimes, I remember the dreams that accompany my afternoon naps and sometimes I don't. I suppose if I took a nap more often I'd remember my dreams.
I have to go put my teeth in again. When I woke up I came directly to the computer without stopping to put my teeth in my mouth. I always took my teeth out when I lay down for a nap or when I go to sleep at night.
Sometimes I set on the couch or love seat and doze. I don't take my teeth out then because I don't sleep for more then five minutes. However, laying down for an afternoon nap is different because I usually sleep for more then thirty minutes. My afternoon naps usually last about an hour, perhaps a little more. I think today's nap lasted about an hour and a half.
Sleep refreshes the
mind and body like prayer
refreshes the soul.
An afternoon nap
allows my mind to relax
the day goes better.

Analyzing my dreams – Part 2
All right, I didn't look far enough when it comes to money. I only looked on one page of the dream dictionary under M. I have a reason for not looking far enough, I was distracted by the view of the sky outside my living room window. Sunset is approaching in Las Vegas and there are clouds.
Sunrises and sunsets always distract me. However, when there are clouds in the sky the distraction is longer because the event is more beautiful. Right now, the sun is behind some clouds. The bright sunshine is filtering through some of the clouds and this makes the bottom of the clouds around look darker.
Anyway getting back to the meaning of money in my dreams, money has several meanings depending on what one is doing with it in the dream. I found money in my dream so that is supposed to refer to prosperity and success.

Analyzing my Dreams
Istijlál (Majesty), 6 Mulk (Dominion), 166 BE – Thursday, February 12, 2009 about 3:28 PM Pacific Time
I wrote yesterday that I dreamed about my father. It's unusual for me to dream about Dad, so I decided to see what dreaming about my father meant. Dreams having meanings and there are several on-line dream dictionaries. There are certain symbols in my dreams that I know what they mean. For instance water is a spiritual symbol and refers to spiritual events.
One of the dream dictionaries I discovered is dream moods. This dream dictionary interprets over 4,000 symbols and key words with over 12,000 meanings. I looked up father and the meaning had to do with security and self-reliance. I also looked up money, but didn't find anything about it. That's no big deal because when I dream about finding money, I usually get money a few days later.
I think I'm going to have to start analyzing my dreams, if for not other reason then they can teach me a great deal about myself. I also suspect that they will assist in the process of transformation. I'll check out the other dream dictionaries later and post their links as well.

I dreamed about my father last night
‘Idál (Justice), 5 Mulk (Dominion), 166 BE – Wednesday, February 11, 2009 about 9:34 AM Pacific Time
I dreamed about my father last night. I have never dreamed about my father before. Normally, my grandfather, one of my brothers, or some other male acquatiance appears in my dreams, but not my father. Anyway, my father was in the dream and he offered to take my mother and myself to pick up food. I also found twenty-six cents in the dream.
In the dream, my father looked the way I remembered him. The last time I saw my father I was very young. I remember a tall handsome man. I have pictures of my father and he looked the same as in the photos. My father passed on to the next world several years ago.
I learned about his death by reading his obituary on the internet. That is a difficult way to learn about the death of a relative, but that is how I learned about his death. I wanted to meet my father before he died and say "I love you, daddy." However, now the only thing I can do is find his grave and put flowers on it.

Dreaming about Spreadsheets and Budgets
Jalál (Glory), 16 Masa’il (Questions), 165 BE – Friday, December 26, 2008 about 4:45 PM Pacific Time
This type of dream is unusual, even for me. However, this morning I dreamed about spreadsheets and budgets. The dream stayed with me all day and encouraged me to set up my budget spreadsheet for 2009.
It wasn't a spectacular or colorful. The spreadsheets and budgets weren't chasing me down corridors or anything like that. I did see the spreadsheet in my dream the way it should look. After I got up, I began setting the budget spreadsheet up and it looked pretty much the way it looked in the dream.
After I set up that spreadsheet, I went on to the spreadsheet for my 2009 writing goals. Normally, I don't set my goals to begin so early in the year. I celebrate Naw-Ruz as a New Year and I usually set my goals to begin around March 21. This year I've set my main goals to start in January and I think it was because of the dream.
There was one way the dream was unusual. I was in bed when I had the dream and I haven't dreamed or remembered a dream I had in bed for over a year. The dreams I usually remember occur when I doze on the couch or the love seat. I think something has changed in the past few days, but I don't know what it is. I feel more relaxed and confident then I have in a long time.

I am walking to work this week
Fidál (Grace), 6 Ilm (Knowledge), 165 B.E. – Tuesday, October 21, 2008 about 4:55 PM Pacific Time
I'm to and from work this week. It's about a two-mile walk both ways, but I have no other choice. I don't have a car and probably won't have one for a while, so I have to walk to work. I had an interview last Thursday to see if I could qualify for Paratransit. However, I have to go to work so I'm not waiting to see if I qualified.
I'm not sure that I will qualify. I'm not basing this on the interview, but on a dream I had last week before the interview took place. In the dream my mother went to work with me, so I suspect she will qualify, but I won't. If I don't qualify then I'll be walking to work for some time because I don't expect to get the car back for some time.
Because of my right knee walking is painful, but not impossible. I just have to focus on other things besides the knee and my negative thoughts. Today I saw a yellow spring flower blooming. This is autumn and the flower was the type that grew from a bulb. I think it might be related to a tulip, but I'm not sure.
If I had been riding in a car I wouldn't have saw the flower because it bloomed on a corner. The flower was hidden from the street and people in cars couldn't see it. The interesting thing is I walked past that corner this morning and didn't see the flower then, but I saw it coming home from work.

I think I’m going to be up all night
Jalál (Glory), 16 Kamal (Perfection), 165 B.E. – Saturday, August 16, 2008 about 6:02 PM PDT
I think I'm going to be up all night. All right, this is my own fault because I took a nap this afternoon. I usually don't take naps in the after noon, at least not in bed. I sometimes doze sitting up on the couch or the love seat, but I don't actually go to bed to take a nap. However, I was feeling tired, so I ate lunch and went to bed.
I know, I'm not suppose to go to bed on a full stomach. That probably explains the dream I had. In the dream, I was rescuing a dog from some type of enclosure. I think it was a play pin or something like that. Anyway, my mother and I were trying to help the puppy get across the enclosure and out the other side. That's about all I remember of the dream.
As a result, of being out all morning and then taking the nap, I'm running behind. In order to catch up, I'm going to have to stay up later then usually. I'm not gong any place tomorrow anyway. At least, I'm not planning on going anywhere. I bought gas today when I went to the drug store to pick up a bottle of Mom's meds. I also went to the bank this morning.
I will make a pot of coffee and see what's in the fridge to eat. I think I have some applesauce and German chocolate brownies as a snack. I should snack on the applesauce, that would be more nutritious then brownies, but I think I will have at least on brownie.

In the Weary Morning
Istiqlál (Independence), 13 Kalimat (Words), 165 BE – Friday, July 25, 2008 about 4:40 AM PDT
I was really tired when I went to bed last night about 10:30 PM. Somewhere between 11:15 PM and 1:15 AM, my doorbell ring three times. I woke up from a sound sleep, set straight up and looked around. Then I got up and went to the front door. I looked out the door's window, my front door has a nice little window and not a peep hole. There was no one standing on my front stoop, so I opened the door. I had locked the screen door from the inside before I went t bed.
The only things I saw, were the trashcans setting under the stone pine tree. The trashcans were setting there before I went to bed last night. I then went to the living room and looked out the window. My car was still setting in the driveway, so I got the keys, unlocked the screen door and went out to the car. I rolled up the car windows, checked to see that Mom's walker was still in the back seat and locked the car. I lock the car before sunset from now on.
I still don't know whether I actually heard the doorbell or if it was part of a dream. I've been having some really intriguing dreams lately. Wednesday I dreamed I heard my sister's voice in the house she was talking to Mom. Thursday I dreamed there was a big wind and it destroyed some cactus Mom had in the backyard (there are no cactus in the backyard except in my dreams). Last night I dreamed about people doing something and then the doorbell ring.
I don't think the doorbell was part of my dream, but you never know. When I went outside to roll up the car windows and lock the car, I heard police sirens. Of course, sirens aren't anything unusual in Las Vegas, we hear them all the time. Still the events of last night was disturbing, unfortunately I won't be able to take a nap until late this afternoon.
Before I went back to sleep I said a prayer of protection. I said a prayer before I went to sleep the first time, but I don't remember if it was a protection prayer. Another thing I am going to do every night before going to bed. I will say one the protection prayer revealed by the Bab.

I find myself missing Oklahoma
Fidál (Grace), 19 Baha (Splendor), 165 B.E. – Tuesday, April 8, 2008 about 12:36 PM PDT
Lately,
I've found myself missing Oklahoma.
Maybe it's the carefree existence of my childhood I miss
and not the state of Oklahoma;
to be young and worry free
without debts or responsibility.
Perhaps that's what I miss
or is it something else about my childhood
that makes me want to see my grandparents again.
Mother's Day is approaching
and I remember not saying good-bye to my grandmother
before she died.
Lately,
I found myself dreaming of my grandparents' home,
the dream is reoccurring
the location is always the same,
but the people are different.
My mother and I
are always in the dream,
but sometimes its my grandparents' house
with cousins and distant relatives,
but not my grandparents.
At other times my grandparents
are in the dream,
with every pet I've ever had.

My Grandparents in My Dreams
Istiqlal (Independence), 19 Sharaf (Honor), 164 B.E. - Friday, January 18, 2008 about 2:35 PM PST
For three night
my Grandparents have been in my dreams
we are in the house where they lived
in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
There are cousins I remember
and some I never meant
we are all there,
both sides of my family
gathered in Grandma's kitchen
talking and remembering
the good times
and the bad.
For three nights now
my Grandparents have been in my dreams
and I wonder
what are they trying to tell me.

A hectic two days
Fidal (Grace), 16 Sharaf (Honor), 164 B.E. - Tuesday, January 15, 2008 about 4:24 PM PST
It's been a hectic two days. I'm tired and I still have several reviews to do on writing.com.
I had a dream last night about Blackwell, Oklahoma. In the dream my mother and I were in Blackwell to attend my grandmother's funeral. We were in the house that belonged to grandma and grandpa. We were going through their things, keeping what we wanted and letting my cousins pick what they wanted. Everything else was going to be sold.
In the dream I was sixty-one, my mother was eighty-six and my cousins were whatever their age would be now. Mom and I were getting ready to come back to Las Vegas and let my cousins take care of selling the house and everything else. I suppose it'll take me a couple of days to figure out what the dream meant.
