watching the wind blow through a neighbor's olive tree,
watching thin scattered clouds move across the blue sky,
and watching cars drive past.

Another lonely afternoon,
listening to the area fan blow
and feeling its cool air on my arms.

Another lonely afternoon,
missing my mother
and writing poetry.
