NaNoWriMo Day 2

Day 1 of National Novel Writing Month went well, despite the fact that I did not get started on my first entry until afternoon. I spent the morning of November 1 doing business outside of the house. I went to the bank between 9:00 and 9:30 AM, spent about thirty minutes waiting to see a teller, cashed a check, withdrew some money, and went to breakfast. After that I went to Super Cuts to get my hair cut. I spent an hour or so talking to the hairdresser while he cut my hair. The next thing I did was to walked from Super Cuts down to Smith's Food and Drug to where I caught up with my roommate.  We paid the rent, stopped at CVS, and came home. 

The name of my NaNo book this year is The World According to Snow. I am again attempting to write something personal with spiritual and religious overtones. I attempt this last year, but the results were not to my liking. This year's book started off better because the first entry is titled Introduction and Invocation. The total word count was 1,773. 

NaNoWriMo Day 1: 2,025 Words Written

I exceeded my Day 1 NaNoWriMo word count goal. This means that I have some time to do other things besides working on my NoNo book. This year I'm a NaNo Rebel which means that I'm doing some personal writing instead of working on a novel. This year I decided to take some personal time when it comes to writing. 

I chose to do this in blog style with the date and time at the top of each entry. The heading will look similar to the heading I use in this blog. I will attempt either a daily or every-other-day update of my November writing effort. I don't know precisely what each entry will contain because the only planning I did was to write a few ideas for each day's entry and plan the format of the date at the top of the first page of the entry. 

Motivational Monday: What is my motivation this week?

Saturday and Sunday I reviewed on writing.com while procrastinating on doing surveys. Therefore, I have to check several of the survey websites for survey, or should I say, income opportunities. I also have to submit at least one item to a writing.com contest and finish a story. I think that is all I have to day, but that could change before the end of the week. I know I will have to take a few minutes (understatement) out of my day to early vote.  

Today it is raining, so I am using that as an excues to stay in. I do not want to get wet. The only thintgs I have to keep me dry are two hoodies, a windbreaker, and two umbrellas. One of the umbrellas is in the car, but I do not know the location of the umbrella I keep in the house. It could be in a box in my room or in a drawer. It rains so little here in Las Vegas that the umbrella does not get much use. I suppose I could use it as a sunshield in the summer. 

I have finished my NaNoWriMo outline or planning document whichever you want to call it. I also have the document set up in my writing.com port for my NaNo writing effort. I am working on a perrsonal memoir instead of a fantasy or science fiction novel. I going to close now by wishing everyone Happy Writing. 

I Am a NaNo Rebel

Only eleven days until the beginning of National Novel Writing Month. On November 1 the writing frenzy begins. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in thirty days. That means a writer has to complete at least 1,667 words a day. During NaNoWriMo I attempt and succeed at writing 50,000 words. This year I'm participating in NaNoWriMo, but I won't be working on fiction. Instead I'll write nonfiction. 

The title of my book is The Test, Tribulations, Joys, and Meditations of Prosperous Snow. The genre is personal with spiritual overtones. The first reason I chose this title because my Also Known As is Prosperous Snow.  The second is that something has changed in my life and I need to write some personal stuff so that I can focus. I figured NaNoWriMo was a good time to do it. 

Sunday Afternoon Thoughts on the Blahs

Blahs refers to boring stuff. I think I have the blahs this afternoon, which means all I want to do is play solitaire games.  I have other things to do and to write besides an entry on the blahs. Perhaps I should say I have a case of the blahs.

The problem I am facing at t his moment is finding something to write about. I open a document and sit looking at a blank screen. My mind is also blank, which may explain why I am having difficulty spelling simple words.

Last week I got behind on my post. I got behind on my e-mail. I got behind on the surveys I do. I did not get behind on my NaNoWriMo novel. I did not get behind on my writing,com reviews. I need a schedule that I can work by; however, I there is a good possibility that it will get messed up sometime during the week.

I am trying too hard to compose this blog entry. Therefore, I wish everyone happy NaNoWriMo.

Saturday Review of My Week: Encountering a few Senior Moments

It's been a stressful week, which may explain the senior moments I've encountered. The other possibility is that I didn't print off a To Do List, which I will do for the up coming week. I have to print off a print off a To Do List for the Week of November 17-23 otherwise I'm going to forget something. As it is, I'm not sure what I forgot this week.

I didn't realize I had been forgetting stuff until I go an e-mail message in my writing.com e-mail box about the Senior Center November contest. I had the check the forum because I couldn't remember if I entered a poem. When I checked, I found I had entered the poem Giving Thanks.

The only things I'm sure I haven't for got to do this week was write at least 1,667 words a day on Midnight in Suburbia. my NaNoWriMo novel for 2013. I also managed to achieve most of the goals I posted on writing.com, but that was only because I was keeping track of them in one of the journals I keep, in my portfolio, on that website. I obviously need to start keeping track of everything I want to accomplish and accomplish in a single week. I can do this when I print off a To Do List each day of the week.

I need to go to the grocery store this afternoon

I have to go to the grocery store this afternoon between 12:00 and 2:00 PM because I have to be back to the house before 3:00. I got off to a slow started today, which means I haven't written very much and I haven't reached the 834 word count yet. This is half of today's NaNoWriMo word count goal of 1,667. I need to reach that before I can leave the house today.

My Social Security check hit the bank this morning, so I can purchase some necessities and a little gas. I don't know how much more I can purchase though because I still have to figure out how much I'm going to have left for the power bill after everything else comes out, but I have to purchase a few personal items. I also need laundry soap and maybe some dish washing liquid because I don't want to run out before the end of the month.

I'll write a few more words on my NaNoWriMo novel and then I will check to see how much money I have coming out of my account this month. I had better remember to get coffee while I'm at the grocery store or I will be completely out before the end of the month.

I am usually a patient person

I don't know what is wrong with me today, but I don't have the patience to complete a twenty-five or thirty minute survey. I have started two surveys sent to one of my e-mail boxes and managed (with difficulty) to complete one of them. I completed a thirty minute survey this morning; however, when I took a twenty-five minute survey I was unable to complete it because I was too impatient.

It's unusual for me to exit a survey before I complete it, but for some reason my survey patience went out the window today. I can write a blog entry without any problems, but when it comes to surveys I begin getting impatient less then halfway through. I'll fix me something to eat and see if that helps or perhaps I should just delete today's surveys. Give the surveys a rest today and try again tomorrow.

The problems with doing survey on Friday, November 1, is my commitment to National Novel Writing Month. Tomorrow I begin writing Midnight in Suburbia (the working title of this year's NaNoWriMo novel). I can work on the novel in the morning and then in the afternoon see how my patience is when  it comes to doing surveys.

I won NaNoWriMo in 2010

It took a lot of work and some sacrifices, but I won NaNoWriMo in 2010. I finished writing 50,013 on November 29, 2010, one day before the deadline.

Renaming the cats

Mom has memory issues, as a results she forgot that the cats have names; therefore, she has decided to give the cats names. I am going along with this because otherwise Mom would get angry. I suspect this is just another manifestation of the Alzheimer's disease.

The cats' original names are Midnight, Prince, and Beauty, while their new names are Ralf, Henry, and Matilda. Since I am the one who makes the appointments with the veterinarian, it doesn't matter what names Mom gives them. When I make t appointments I give the name or names that are on the records at the Vets. I suppose the next time we go to the Veterinarian clinic, I should inform the office help and the veterinarian about he cats new names.

The cats names are now Ralf Midnight, Prince Henry, and Matilda Beauty or is that Midnight Ralf, Henry Prince, and Beauty Matilda. Those sound like good names for characters, perhaps I should use them in my upcoming NaNoWriMo novel.

NaNoWriMo Day 3

NaNoWriMo Day 3, I've completed the introduction to my 50,000-word novel. The introduction contains a little over 1,800 words, which isn't too bad. I have a lot going on in my life, so I'm probably lucky I've written that many words on this project.

I'm going to have to have at least one all night writing session this month to achieve the 50,000 words by November 30. At this point, I'm planning to start an all night session on Saturday, November 7. I'm also planning another all night session for Sunday, November 22.

In addition, to the all night writing sessions, I'm planning two all day reviewing session for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. I have to earn some more GPs to extend my premium writing.com membership another month. After November 30, then I will worry about extending the membership for another month.

November has arrived

November has arrived. I've began my NaNoWriMo novel. The day started out a bit odd and I had a "senior moment" when I was logging into a website. I forgot the answers to the security questions, which means I'm lock out for at least today. I was going to pay a bill using the site, since I was locked out of the website I attempted to use the phone payment. I put in the routing number of the bank and pressed the pound sign and got cut off, twice. Anyway, now I have to call their customer service or bill paying number Monday and see if I inadvertently made two payments.

Since there is nothing I can do about that bill, I'll worry about it Monday. This weekend I'm going to work on my novel and pray. So far today, I've written approximately 1,321 and the daily goal is 1,667 words. I'm going to have to go plug the porch light in before it gets dark. I unplugged it last night so we wouldn't get any Trick or Treater's.

It's cloudy outside and it looks dreary. It's not cold, actually the day feels sort of weird. That's the only way I can explain it. I don't know what the problem is maybe it has to do with the fact that I spent most of the day out yesterday riding city buses. Anyway, I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day and finish the novel prologue I'm working on.

A New Week Begins

A new week begins and it looks like a week with a lot of ideas to blog about. October 31 is Halloween and Nevada Day. This is the last week of day light savings time for the year. November 1 NaNoWriMo begins and I have to finish planning this years' novel before that day. It should be too difficult though because all I have to do is put the events of each chapter in.

NaNoWriMo

I think one subject I'll use is writing a NaNoWriMo novel since I have 30 days to write 50,000 words that usually a transforming event. A person learns a lot about themselves attempting to write about 2,000 words a do, do laundry and house work. Not to mention going out all over town to get things done.

One thing I'm going to avoid doing during my novel writing time is laundry. My washer isn't level so if it's overloaded it moves (dances) all over the floor. In the spin cycles I have to stand next to it otherwise I have wrestle it back into position.

Feast of Qudrat

The Feast of Qudrat will occur on Saturday, November 3, I think that's another topic I'll blog about this week. Feast is always a transforming and spiritual experience. Other than the subjects I've mentioned I don't know what else I'll write about. I'm attempting to blog everyday so the more topics I come up with the better off I'll be.

Work Schedule

I'm going to have to set up specific time for Internet, writing and other work. I've tried getting everything in without a schedule and it isn't working. I can't seem to get everything in, I'm not worrying about getting everything done. If I just "keep plugging away" I'll eventually get the important stuff accomplished. It's not that I have a social life anyway. My social life lately has consisted in taking my mother to doctors appointments and Feasts. We (Mom and I) did go out to eat on Monday, but that's the first time we've been to a "sit down" restaurant in a long time.

This month my social life improves a bit. The Interfaith Forums 2007 starts on the evening of October 14, then on the evening of the 15th I'll go to feast. There is a holy day celebration on the evening of the 19th or is it the 20th, I don't have a calendar near me right now. The 20th is the Birth of the Bab, so I think the celebration is on the evening of the 19th. What else is going on in October?

On October 31 I celebrate joining writing.com, also that is Nevada Day and Halloween. I'm not sure that I'm going to be home that night. I usually don't stay home for "Tricker Treaters" because we never have a lot of them and I usually have candy left over. The last thing I need is more candy in this house. I've still got a box of candy in the refrigerator that I received back in April or was it May. Maybe we ought to finish that candy off in the next few day. I think I will get some Candy Corn, I always like those and Halloween is the only time I can find them.

November is NaNoWriMo, I'm planning the novel this month. I don't have a lot more to go only the scenes in the chapters. I have the main characters planned and the conflict figured out. I have to write one sentence about the scenes I want to put in, the first chapter scenes are figured out. I can't actually start writing the novel until November 1. The idea is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. The daily word count goal is 1,667 beginning the first of November.

As for the work schedule, I think I'll keep early morning and late evening for writing and surfing. The daylight hours for other chores and going out of the house; of course, there will be times when I can't write or surf at night because of commitments such as Feast, etc. This should work fairly well, especially if I expected interruptions and down time. As long as I keep a mental list of other things to do or a prayer book handy during the down time there won't be a big problem.
