November Tears
Seven long years,
since Mom ascended
into the Abha Paradise.
Seven long years,
Thanksgiving
and memories bring tears,
as I pause
to say a prayer for the departed.

Jalál (Glory), 15 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 173 BE - Saturday, October 29, 2016 AD about 9:42 AM Pacific Time
I haven't accomplished my blogging goal for this month. The plan was to post every-other-day to this blog. I haven't posted because I've
focused on other writing without looking for themes or subjects to
discuss here. I don't have a posting schedule for November because that
is National Novel Writing month. In November I will focus on
accomplishing the 50,000 words before November 30. The most I might post
is update.
I
did succeed in writing several poems this week for a challenge on
writing.com. I also posted to my writing.com blog everyday, which wasn't
part of this month's plan. The plan was to post every other day to that blog. Oh well, November
is a new month which means new goals. I'll post the November goal in
the first. After that I will see how I do in accomplishing them.

I Am a NaNo Rebel
Istiqlál (Independence), 7 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 173 BE - Friday, October 21, 2016 AD about 2:57 Pacific Daylight Time
Only eleven days until the
beginning of National Novel Writing Month. On November 1 the writing
frenzy begins. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in thirty days.
That means a writer has to complete at least 1,667 words a day. During
NaNoWriMo I attempt and succeed at writing 50,000 words. This year I'm
participating in NaNoWriMo, but I won't be working on fiction. Instead
I'll write nonfiction.
The title of my book is The
Test, Tribulations, Joys, and Meditations of Prosperous Snow. The genre
is personal with spiritual overtones. The first reason I
chose this title because my Also Known As is Prosperous Snow. The
second is that something has changed in my life and I need to write some
personal stuff so that I can focus. I figured NaNoWriMo was a good time
to do it.

Happy Cyber Monday
Kamal (Perfection), 8 Qawl (Speech), 172 BE - Monday, November 30, 2015 about 8:06 AM Pacific Standard Time
It's a cold 39 degrees here in Las Vegas. I plan to remain home today because I have to leave the house on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday I have to pay the rent and then on Wednesday and Friday I have doctors appointments. I will work online today, but I don't think I'll purchase anything. Of course, I could change my mind after I determine if I have enough money to pay the rent and make an online purchase.
I've already drink two cups of coffee this morning, so it's time for breakfast. I'll go get another cup of coffee before seeing what's in the fridge to fix for breakfast. I'm sort of hungry, but I don't know what I want to eat. When I woke up this morning I was in a good mood; however, not my mood has darkened so I think it must be time for something to eat and a prayer or meditation session.

Saturday Summary: A Good Week
Jalal (Glory), 6 Qawl (Speech), 172 BE - Saturday, November 28, 2015 about 8:01 AM Pacific Standard Time
On the last Saturday of November 2015,
I contemplate the past week,
I look at my accomplishments for the month,
I consider my successes
and my failures.
I realize
that a good week
is one filled with successes
and failures;
the last week in November 2015
was a good week.
I have a lot to be thankful for:
gratitude is an attitude
because no matter how many failures
I encounter
I always have something
on my gratitude list.

Jalal (Glory), 11 Qudrat (Power), 172 BE - Saturday, November 14, 2015 about 2:10 PM Pacific Standard Time
It's been an exciting and stressful week. Saturday should be a time to relax and enjoy the cool autumn air, but I don't think I can do that today because I have several things to do online. I did succeed in finishing two poems and a story this week, but I'm working on a third poem. The form I'm writing is a song, so I have to do a little research because the poem is about an event in history. It's a good thing I can do research online to make sure of the date.

It is November
Jalal (Glory), 4 Qudrat (Power), 172 BE - Saturday, November 7, 2015 about 4:27 PM Pacific Standard Time
It is November. It is a sad month form me because three years ago, on November 29, my mother died. My mother's soul passed into the Garden of Paradise. My mother's spirit is free of the Alzheimer's that ravaged her mind and body. I remember that my mother died peacefully. I remember seeing her in the bed after her spirit left her body. I remember she looked so peaceful.
The first year after my mother's death is a fog. I just went on from day to day doing what I had to do without considering anything except what was necessary to keep myself alive. Things are better for me. My life started to improve in 2014 when I moved out of the house Mom and I shared. My situation has gotten a whole lot better this and I expect it to continue to improve.

Tuesday's Topic: Day Light Savings Time
Fiḍal (Grace), 2 ‘Alá (Loftiness), 171 BE - Tuesday, March 3, 2015 about 12:20 pm Pacific Standard Time
It is that time of year again when the clock jump ahead one hour and I spends the next seven days in a haze. It takes a little while for the human body and mind to get used to the new clock settings. In spring, my mind thinks that it should be earlier then the clock says. For about a week the both my mind and body make it make getting up at 4:00 am difficult when they think its 3:00 am. I have to get up early to take medication at least one hour before I eat my first breakfast.
My first breakfast usually consist of fruit or something light to go with my coffee. After that I can do housework, go online, or leave the house. There was a time, when I was much younger, that I could go without eating before leaving the house, but not any more. I have to have something, even if it is only a can of fruit or bowl of cereal before going out. The more I plan on doing while I am out of the house the bigger breakfast I have to eat.
Daylight savings time begins at 2:00 am on Sunday, March 8. and it ends at 2:00 am on Sunday, November 1. In November it will take me another seven days t o get used to the time change. I wonder if anyone has ever did a study on the effect of daylight savings time on the brain or body. If not, I think they should because I am sure that would be an interesting study and a good thing to know.

A Chilly Tuesday Morning in Las Vegas
Fiḍal (Grace), 15 Qudrat (Power), 171 BE - Tuesday, November 18, 2014 about 10:07 am Pacific Standard Time
It is a chilly Tuesday morning in Las Vegas. The temperature at 9:56 am was 56 degrees Fahrenheit with scattered clouds and a wind chill factor of 56 degrees. The temperature is supposed to get up to 57 degrees by 11:00 am. It is autumn in Las Vegas. It is autumn in the desert.
I ate vegetable soup for breakfast this morning. I still have some of the vegetables left over so I can have them with some type of meat for lunch unless I decide to fix the T.V. dinner I have in the freezer. I need something warm to eat because that is the only way to keep warm.
The temperature has not descended below 50 degrees while I have been awake I have not turned on the warm air. I think the temperature got down to 46 degrees early this morning, but I was asleep so it did not matter. I do not like to sleep with the air on because it stuffs me up and causes me to wake up when I cough. I can always put more quilts on the bed if the cold wakes me up.

November Haibun
Jamal (Beauty), 13 Qudrat (Power), 171 BE - Sunday, November 16, 2014 about 7:15 am Pacific Standard Time
It's typical November Sunday morning with bright sunshine and scattered clouds. I look out my window and notice a slight breeze ruffling the palm fronds. I know the day will warm as the sun rises higher in the sky, therefore, I will wait until around noon to take out the trash.
I made one carafe of coffee this morning. It's almost gone because I used some of it on my cold cereal instead of milk. Normally I make only one carafe of coffee a day, but this morning I will make another because it warms me and brings back memories of my childhood.

November Poem: Daylight Savings Time Ends for 2014
Jamal (Beauty), 18 'Ilm (Knowledge), 171 BE - Sunday, November 2, 2014 about 6:39 pm Pacific Standard Time
extra hour of sleep
end of daylight savings time
for 2014
This is Day 32 of my 95-Day gratitude challenge and one of the things I am grateful is automatic time updates. I do not have to change the time on my computer or cellphone. That means I only have to deal with the microwave clock and the clock in the stove. I will change the clock on the stove sometime today and check to see if I have to change the clock on the microwave. Sometimes I do not spring the microwave clock forward so I do not have to change it back in November.
do sparrows observe
daylight savings time in song
they have their own time
It is November with shorter days, longer nights, and cooler temperatures. These things added to the change in time make the first week of November a bit hectic and confusing. Confusion comes with moving the clock back an hour because I think it should be later then what the clock reads.
morning temperatures
descend into the sixties
I need a sweater

Setting up Doctor's appointments
Istijlál (Majesty), 13 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Thursday, December 5, 2013 about 1:44 PM Pacific Standard Time
I started on November 18, attempting to set up two appointment. I got one appointment, the one for the mammogram arranged almost as soon as I called. That appointment is for the early part of February 2014. The other appointment, was for wound care, which I was finally able to set up this week. That appointment is for December 12, 2013.
I went back to my doctor's office on November 26, for the results of a blood test. She gave me a referral to two specialist. One of the specialist called back on Monday and I made that appointment for the end of January 2014. I called the other specialist today and apparently my doctor's office has the wrong fax number, so now I have to call my doctor back and give them the proper fax number so they can send the paperwork that specialist needs to make my appointment.
I hope I can set that appointment up for January or February because I do not want to spend all of 2014 going to doctor's offices. As it is now, I suspect I will have to come into Las Vegas from Searchlight to keep the appointments I have already made. Oh well, that's life. I just need to take a deep breath and stop complaining because the only thing that complaining does is make the situation worse.

Twentry-three days to go
Jamál (Beauty), 9 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Sunday, December 1, 2013 about 9:18 am Pacific Standard Time
In twenty-three days, I will be sixty-seven years old or perhaps I should say sixty-seven years young. However, I word it I will be celebrating another birthday. It is a birthday I both look forward to and dread. I look forward to it because it means I am still alive and writing. I would say kicking, but at may age kicking anything can be dangerous because I could break a toe or fall and hurt myself.
As anyone reading this entry can see, my sense of humor is still going weird and strong. The question arises, "Why am I dreading this birthday?" The answer is easy, this is my second birthday without Mom present in my life. I almost wrote this is my first birthday without her present; however, Mom died on November 29, 2012, so last year was my first birthday without her in my life. For some reason, I forgot my 2012 birthday.
Since I forgot my 2012 birthday, does that mean I can tell everyone I am only sixty-six years old? I doubt if that would work, but it could be a conversations started. I do not think I need any conversation starters because lately I have found myself with a lot say, but no one to say it to. Since I have no one to talk to my blog entries may be getting longer this month.

31 Days Left in 2013
Jalál (Glory), 8 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Saturday, November 30, 2013 about 9:56 AM Pacific Standard Time
A chilly morning
in late November when
oak leaves are turning orange.
The neighbor's oak tree has begun to change color and lose it leaves. Thanksgiving is past, while Christmas and New Year's Day 2014 is approaching. It is time to review my goals. It is time to consider what I have accomplished, what I have left to accomplish, and what I plan to accomplish in the New Year.
Falling leaves always
remind me of the New Year
and new aspirations.
I will not make any specific New Year's Resolutions until Naw-Ruz 2014, but I will consider everything I have accomplished since Naw-Ruz 2013. I will also look at everything I still have to accomplish and decide if it is worth the effort to finish the project or just toss it aside. I know one thing I need to do is to make my daily To Do List more specific and remove items from the C priorities.
The Good News: I wrote 54,658 words during National Novel Writing Month.
The Bad News: There are only 31 days left in 2013
and only about 5 months (19 days each) left in 170 BE.

A National Novel Writing Month Poem
Kamál (Perfection), 3 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Monday, November 25, 2013 about 1:35 PM Pacific Standard Time
An empty coffee cup
and I still have about 10,000
words to write.
Hunger awakes
the desire for food
a grilled cheese sandwich
with hot sauce.
Is it too chilly
for a cold
cherry Dr. Pepper;
it doesn't matter
because I will open
a can anyway.
An empty coffee cup
waiting for me
to fill it
and warm the coffee up
in the microwave.
An empty coffee cup
and I still have about 10,000
words to write.
Hunger awakes
the desire for food
a grilled cheese sandwich
with hot sauce.
Is it too chilly
for a cold
cherry Dr. Pepper;
