Random Thought on Valentine’s Day

Celebrating love
A Happy Valentine’s Day
A day for couples

All the ads I have seen for Valentine’s Day emphasized gifts. Some ads suggest roses, others chocolate and diamonds, etc. The one thing that comes across is that Valentine’s Day is for couples to celebrate their love. Since I am not part of a couple, I do not have anything to celebrate.

St. Valentine’s Day
Both Christian and pagan roots
Celebrating love

St. Valentine’s Day commemorates Saint Valentine a Third century A.D. Roman martyr executed on February 14 about 270 A.D. The pagan roots of Valentine’s Day come from a Roman fertility festival of Lupercalia celebrated on February 15.
