My Grandmother was a founding member of N. L. W. A. A. M.

This is Thankful Thursday and today I am grateful for the comic Freshly Squeezed by Ed Stein because it brought back memories of my Grandmother Newland. Grandma was a founding member of the National League of Women Awake After Midnight (N. L. W. A. A. M). My siblings and I can remember getting up in the middle of the night and finding Grandma awake.

When we woke up, we found Grandma doing one of two things. She would either be cleaning house or playing solitary. When my brother asked her what she was doing when she played solitary, she said she was playing cards with the devil.
