I am thankful for the cool air I felt
as I stood at my front door
staring into the morning
and sipping my first cup of coffee.

I am grateful that my checking account
is not overdrawn today.

I am thankful for my first breakfast
of freshly brewed hot coffee
and two Oreo cookies.

to keep me cool on these triple digit
summer days.

I am thankful for a working refrigerator and freezer
because I can put my water bottle in the freezer
so that I can have ice water to drink
when I leave the house.

I am grateful for a working electric range
because I can fix eggs
and turkey sausage for lunch.

I am thankful that my sister
will be moving into the apartment
