Listen to His Call

Listen
to the call
of the Divine Beloved.

It is
the voice of the Nightingale
singing in the Tree of Life.

It is
the voice of the Prince of Peace
proclaiming unity.

Birds

A poem is a Great Horned Owl
mourning the departing night;
mourning the twinkling stars
fading in dawns nascent light.

A poem is a Nightingale
rejoicing in dawns first rays;
rejoicing as the rising sun
gives birth to a new day.

A poem is a Mourning Dove
lamenting the fleeting day;
lamenting life's swift passage
from birth to the grave.

Miracles

Miracles are everywhere
just open your eyes
and you will see them.

Miracles
are in the shadow
of a palm tree,
in the dance of plasma
circling a black hole,
or in the song of a nightingale.

Nightingale's Call

Can you hear the call of God's Nightingale
Echoing through the gate of paradise,
Summoning humanity to unity.

The Nightingale Calls

The nightingale calls,
Out of the darkness that hides the dawn,
His melody echoes across the valley of shadows,
Waking from sleep the lovers of light.

The nightingale calls,
Out of the light that veils the dawn,
His song echoes across the chaos of morning,
Rousing from slumber lovers of God.

Listen to the Nightingale: A Poem

Listen to the voice of the Nightingale,
Singing in the Garden of Paradise
Inviting God's lovers
To enter through the Gate,
Which stands open
To all who hear the trumpet proclaiming
A New Heaven and Earth.

Birds, birds, and more birds

Fiḍál (Grace), 1 Asmá’(Names), 170 BE - Tuesday, August 20, 2013 about 7:50 AM Pacific Time

This morning, I saw a flock of birds flying south east. The black or dark brown birds stood out against the grayish, moisture bearing clouds. I think there were about half-a-dozen birds in the flock. I am not a birdwatcher so I do not know the names of the birds.

This is the third time this week I have noticed the bird in this neighborhood. On Sunday, I saw a mourning dove sitting on my garage roof. I watched it for about five or six minutes before it flew away. Then on Monday, I saw another mourning dove (or perhaps it was the same one I saw on Sunday)  sitting on my garage roof.

There are only a handful of birds I can identify by sight, sound, and name. I can identify mourning doves, sparrows, and nightingales.  Mourning doves are grayish with pigeon shaped bodies and they sound like they are crying. Sparrows and nightingales are small birds, with the sparrows somewhat smaller then the nightingales. The nightingales song is the sweeties and most beautiful of any birdsong I have heard.

Nature is Wonderful

Istijlál (Majesty), 19 Jamál (Beauty), 170 BE - Thursday, May 16, 2013 about 11:05 AM Pacific Time

Nature is wonderful. Nature is beautiful. The birds are singing and have been for several days. For the past week, a white butterfly has flitted past my living room window and through my yard. I think the butterfly is attracted to the weeds in my front yard. In addition, to these beautiful creatures, I saw a white dove fly past my window yesterday. It is a joy to wake up, look outside, or stand on my front porch and listen.

I hear birds happily singing in Las Vegas

Jamál (Beauty), 7 ‘Azamat (Grandeur), 167 BE – Sunday, May 23, 2010 about 10:29 AM Pacific Time

It's a beautiful day in Las Vegas. The sun is shining, the wind is blowing, and the birds are singing. One bird is singing anyway. I think it might be a nightingale, it's been singing all morning. It's ignoring the slight wind chill factor and proclaiming its joy to the neighborhood.

There are a few clouds in the sky, but they don't cover the sun. The tree limbs are gently swaying. They look as if they are dancing or waving good morning. The fourth week of May is starting out in a joyous mood. This morning everything seems right with the world, of course, that is just my opinion. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week with hope and faith.

A Beautiful Late Winter day in Las Vegas

Istiqlál (Independence), 11 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Friday, January 29, 2010 about 8:11 AM Pacific Time

A beautiful late
Winter day in Las Vegas
A nightingale sings

I know spring is on the way because I heard a nightingale this morning. I'm sure the bird I heard was a nightingale. I didn't see it because I think it was setting in the neighbors oak tree. The morning is chilly, with a few clouds in the sky. It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

Life is good today
I heard a nightingale sing
A good beginning

I saw a nightingale this morning

Jamál (Beauty), 14 Kalimát (Words), 166 BE – Sunday, July 26, 2009 about 8:39 PM Pacific Time

I saw a nightingale this morning. At least, I think it was a nightingale. I know we have nightingales in the neighborhood because I hear them singing. The bird was walking in the sun around the area where I had the pine tree removed month or so ago. I don't know what the bird was looking for, probably something to eat or nesting material.

Who knows what kind of insects are in my yard? I'm more interested in making sure there aren't any six-legged or eight-legged creatures in my house then I'm interested in what type of insects, bugs or whatever is in my yard. We have birds in the neighborhood, so they can deal with creepy crawlers in my yard.

The birds are welcome to any thing the find to eat in my yard. The more insects, bugs or spiders they catch in the yard, the fewer I have to worry about getting into the house. I like having birds in my yard and trees, besides catching insects, bugs, and spiders they sing beautifully. I enjoy hearing birds sing especially nightingales and mourning doves, both of which we have in this neighborhood.

I heard a nightingale this morning

Jalál (Glory), 4 Rahmat (Mercy), 166 BE – Saturday, June 27, 2009 about 8:03 AM Pacific Time

I heard a nightingale singing this morning. I think it may have a nest in the oak tree next door. I also saw a mourning dove walking on my garage roof this morning. Now that the pine tree is gone it is easy to see birds walking on the roof of the garage.

I was afraid when they took the pine tree out that there were birds nesting in that tree. I know there are birds nesting in the oak tree next door and I think they nest in the two remaining pine trees, but none nested in the tree I had taken out.

I enjoy the call of both the Nightingale and the mourning dove. The nightingale sounds so sweet and pleasant. The mourning doves sounds as if it is crying or weeping over something. I have never researched any information about either bird, so I think I need to. I would like to know the history of the birds and the myths surrounding them.

A Happy Monday Morning in Las Vegas

Kamál (Perfection), 11 Nur (Light), 166 BE – Monday, June 15, 2009 about 7:38 AM Pacific Time

Monday and happiness normally do not go together. We consider Monday the first day of the workweek and so it is called "Blue Monday". However, this morning it is "Happy Monday", at least for me.

I went out to get the paper and I heard a Nightingale singing. I am not sure where the nest is located, perhaps in the neighbor's oak tree. The only nests in my trees this year are mourning dove nest. I did not hear the mourning doves, but I went out later then normal to pick up the paper. The mourning doves usually call at dawn they greet the rising sun.

Happiness is a spiritual attribute and material items produce temporary happiness. Happiness comes when a person focuses her mind and thoughts other things beside material possessions and acquisitions. My focus this morning is the nightingale's beautiful song and therefore I am happy.

I'm tired and it's only Sunday

Jamál (Beauty), 11 Jalál (Glory), 166 BE – Sunday, April 19, 2009 about 2:34 PM Pacific Time

I'm not sure at this point whether the coming week is going to be a good week or a bad week. I thought this morning, when I heard the nightingale sing that it was going to be a good week. However, that was this morning and it's afternoon now.

Mom's had a difficult day and I don't know whether there is anything I can do to make her day better. I want to cry myself, but both of us being unhappy won't solve the problem. I just gave her a medication that's suppose to help he situation, I hope it does. because she has a doctor's appointment in the morning that we can't reschedule.

Mom is scheduled for surgery on April 30 and the appointment tomorrow is the presurgery consultation. Mom's going to have a tear duct unblocked and it has to be done before the cataract surgery on the left eye. The only thing I can do now is to watch what Mom eats very closely and read the labels on the package. I know the problem is caused by something Mom's eating, but neither of us is sure which foods.

One of the foods that cause it is apples. I suspect Mom's been eating some of the cut up apple in the fridge. When I cut an apple up for myself, I'm going to have to make sure I eat it up or put in a container that is difficult to open and make sure Mom doesn't eat any of it. Another cause of the problem is high amounts of dietary fiber and we have several boxes of cereal in the house containing large amounts of dietary fiber. I know Mom hasn't opened any of the boxes, but there is a plastic container hold some of the cereal, so perhaps she eat some of it this morning.

I'll finish the cereal in the plastic container off in the morning, but that doesn't help he problem tonight. All I can do is ask for healing prayers and hope the medication I just give her helps. In the meant time, I suppose I just need to remember the nightingale's song. When I heard him this morning he sounded so carefree and happy.
