Mom had cataract surgery on her left eye Thursday afternoon. On Friday morning we went to the surgeon's office for an after surgery consultation. The doctor said that Mom would probably get glasses in about a month. Mom was a bit disappointed because she wanted glasses right away.
Mom and I have discussed glasses several times over the past year. Last year the doctor removed the cataract from her right eye. Last year Mom still had her old glasses, but she broke them early this year. Ever since she broke her old glasses Mom has wanted new glasses, but with the cataract surgery on her left eye, coming this year there was no getting new glasses. I just have to keep encouraging her until she gets the new glasses.

I'm tired and it's only Sunday
Jamál (Beauty), 11 Jalál (Glory), 166 BE – Sunday, April 19, 2009 about 2:34 PM Pacific Time
I'm not sure at this point whether the coming week is going to be a good week or a bad week. I thought this morning, when I heard the nightingale sing that it was going to be a good week. However, that was this morning and it's afternoon now.
Mom's had a difficult day and I don't know whether there is anything I can do to make her day better. I want to cry myself, but both of us being unhappy won't solve the problem. I just gave her a medication that's suppose to help he situation, I hope it does. because she has a doctor's appointment in the morning that we can't reschedule.
Mom is scheduled for surgery on April 30 and the appointment tomorrow is the presurgery consultation. Mom's going to have a tear duct unblocked and it has to be done before the cataract surgery on the left eye. The only thing I can do now is to watch what Mom eats very closely and read the labels on the package. I know the problem is caused by something Mom's eating, but neither of us is sure which foods.
One of the foods that cause it is apples. I suspect Mom's been eating some of the cut up apple in the fridge. When I cut an apple up for myself, I'm going to have to make sure I eat it up or put in a container that is difficult to open and make sure Mom doesn't eat any of it. Another cause of the problem is high amounts of dietary fiber and we have several boxes of cereal in the house containing large amounts of dietary fiber. I know Mom hasn't opened any of the boxes, but there is a plastic container hold some of the cereal, so perhaps she eat some of it this morning.
I'll finish the cereal in the plastic container off in the morning, but that doesn't help he problem tonight. All I can do is ask for healing prayers and hope the medication I just give her helps. In the meant time, I suppose I just need to remember the nightingale's song. When I heard him this morning he sounded so carefree and happy.

It’s been a productive morning
This is what happens when I get up about 2:00 AM. Of course, I did go to bed early last night and for once in a long time, I went right to sleep. I was tired, but I'm not sure that's the reason I went to sleep immediately. I think the reason I went to sleep when I did, was lack of worry. For once I wasn't worried about anything.
This morning I emptied the cat litter boxes and put in fresh litter. I made coffee and wrote three blog entries. I then went outside, picked up the morning paper and carried a bag of trash to the curb. The trashcans were taken out yesterday, so all I had to do this morning was take out one bag.
Mom has a doctor's appointment this afternoon at 1:00 PM, she is going to have cataract surgery. I will bring her home and fix something to eat. Mom couldn't eat this morning because of the surgery this afternoon. I think I'll fix some hot dogs, eggs and potatoes. Mom likes those foods, actually Mom likes anything. She's not happy about not being able to eat this morning, but if she eats then the surgery must be rescheduled and she wouldn't like that.

My Mother is going to have cataract removal surgery
I took Mom to the eye doctor on Monday, January 19, and we received the letters today. One was from her health insurance provider they approved procedure and the other was from the doctor's office. She has an appointment to consult with the surge0n, an appointment for the surgery itself and three follow-up appointments.
I put the two of those appointments in the planning calendar, but not the other three. I'm not sure why I didn't put all to them in the planning calendar at the same time. All the appointments are in the same letter, so I have no excuse for not putting them in.
Mom is 87 and her birthday is coming up in March. In 2007, she was in the hospital for surgery and in 2008; she went into the hospital for another surgery. This is an out patient procedure and I have the instructions on what she needs to do after the cataracts are removed. I am just going to take a deep breath and leave everything up to God.
