A poem a day
helps drive boredom away,
which keeps cabin fever at bay;
so Write or read a poem today.

Poem At The End of The Day
The day draws slowly to an end,
weariness sets in,
and tears begin.
I feel so alone--
isolated--
cut off
from the rest of humanity.
What causes this stress?
Is it lack of financial success?
Is the problem spiritual?
I contemplate the reason,
and reach for my prayer book
knowing that the answer will come
only through prayer.

A Cold Autumn Da y
On a cold autumn day
when the wind chill factor
freezes the marrow
in your bones
warmth
is a bowl
of hot soup.

Judgment Day: A Description of Dawn
Prior to dawn
the darkness deepens,
as if gathering its strength
to fight the light.
Dawn comes
its rays of life
send darkness scurrying
and ting gray-white the morning sky.
Life's rays paint
the sky in shades of purple
streak the clouds
with pink and red.
The sun ascending
in silent glory
blinds the ravenous birds of night
and inspires the nightingale's song.

Getting Through the Day
Getting through the day
I pause to say a prayer,
listen to music:
attempt to drive away the blues.

A Long Weary Day
Jamal (Beauty), 4 'Ilm (Knowledge), 171 BE - Sunday, October 19, 2014 about 2:47 pm Pacific Daylight Time
I don't know why I'm attempting to write this except that I'm hoping it keeps me awake. I'm tired! My eye are falling as sleep on their own. I don't want to lay down now because I have too much writing and other work to catch up. I've almost finish catching up on the writing. I don't think I'm going any where this afternoon because I'm in no condition to drive. I'm too tired to drive anywhere today. Walking around helps a little but no all that much. I don't want to brew another carafe of coffee, so I will drink the iced apple tea I have in t he refrigerator. I'm tired and falling asleep at the keyboard. I didn't rest very well last night. I have to rest better tonight because I have to go to work on Monday morning.

A Hazy Day in Las Vegas
Kamál (Perfection), 7 Jalál (Glory), 170 BE - Monday, April 15, 2013 about 6:20 PM Pacific Daylight Time
The sky is hazy because the wind has blown all day. It is so hazy that I cannot see the blue sky. The wind is still blowing perhaps not as hard as earlier today, but enough to prevent anyone with dust allergies from going outside.
When I listen to the weather earlier they said to expect wind tomorrow. The meteorologist also suggest it may rain, which is all right with me as long as it waits until after I get home or rains before I leave the house. I did not intend to go out tomorrow, but I have to fax one or two papers back east.

You Know It's Going to be a Good Day
Fidál (Grace), 1 Rahmat (Mercy), 165 BE – Tuesday, June 24, 2008 1:20 PM PDT
You know it's going to be a good day
when you wake up early enough
to say dawn prayers
as the sun rises over Sunrise Mountain.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you get two loads of cloths washed and dried
before your morning bath.
You know it's going to be a good day
when wake up to find the cat
slept at the foot of your bed all night.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you eat breakfast at home
because you woke up early enough
to take your thyroid pill two hours before
you have to start out for work.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you write three poems
before breakfast.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you took the trash cans to the curb
last night before going to bed.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you wake up the music
of nightingales in the neighbors flower garden.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you look at the gas gage
and realize you won't run out of gas
on the way to work.
You know it's going to be a good day
when you realize that you have enough
money in your wallet
to fill the tank of your Toyota
without having to drive to the recyclers
to sell aluminum cans.
