Summer is here
with triple digit temperatures
and outrageous power bills:
Where is the money
coming from
to keep the electricity on?

Jalal (Glory), 11 Sharaf (Honor), 171 BE - Saturday, January 10, 2015 about Sunset Pacific standard Time
I'm online today, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to get online. It is January and I'm having financial problems. I need to pay my Internet provider, my power bill, and get the tag for my car renewed. I don't have enough money to deal with all three items. I might be able to handle one or two if the check I'm expecting comes this week. If it doesn't then I'll have to decide which is more important.
I would ordinarily say the car and the electricity, but without Internet access it is difficult for me to increase my income by even a few dollars. Catching a bus is also difficult for me, but I am able to get paratransit buses to my apartment so I can go to doctor's appointments. Those are expensive as well at least with a car the only thing I usually have to worry about is filling the gas tank up.
The problem is that everyone I know is in about the same fix I am. Short of money and little chance of increasing the income this month. Perhaps I will just let the Internet drop, but then I would have to go to the bank, grocery store, or power company to pay the bills. At least with an internet connection I can pay bill online and earl a little money online.
I think at this point the best thing I can do is pray. There could be a source of money I'm not seeing because I'm so worried about the finances. By praying and putting the situation in God's hands I may be able to see through this financial fog.

Things I’m Tired of
Jamál (Beauty), 6 Sharaf (Honor), 170 BE – Sunday, January 05, 2014 about 10:46 am Pacific Standard Time
These are some of the things I’m tired of dong...
1. ...washing dishes by hand everyday, I want a working dishwasher. Sometimes I enjoy washing dishes the old fashion way and sometimes I would like to put them in the dishwasher and wash them once every two or three days.
2. ...doing laundry everyday, I would like to do laundry once or twice a week, even if it meant going to a laundromat (which I’m usually not crazy about doing).
These are some of the things I’m tired of...
1. ...high power bills, because I’m on a fixed income and it’s difficult to pay them.
2. ...taking a bath in a cold bathroom because I’m attempt to keep the power bills down (I don’t think it’s working).
3. ...living in a house that is too big for me to take care off and feeling like a failure because I can’t keep it clean.
4. ...dentures that need relining when I can’t afford to have them relines.
5. ...having a bad hair day everyday because I need my hair done and can’t afford it because of the high power and other utility bills.
6. ...hearing weird noises that I can’t identify coming from inside or outside the house.

Thoughts on a Tuesday Afternoon in December
Fiḍál (Grace), 18 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Tuesday, December 10, 2013 about 3:51 pm Pacific Standard Time
Suddenly I want to cry,
I sigh,
I don't know why I want to cry.
This afternoon, I feel so alone. I'm still living in Mom's house wondering where I'll go when the sale of the house closes. I haven't heard from any of the waiting lists I'm on. Maybe I won't hear from them (at least, that's the thought going through my mind). I have to take some sort of action, but I don't know what .
I have bills to pay and I don't have the money to pay them. I may be without power after December 16 and I'm frightened. I have enough money to pay the power bill, but that will leave me short when it comes to the water bill and the car insurance. I don't know where the money for the car insurance will come from after I pay the power bill.
I'm so tired of worrying about bills. I'm so tired of being lonely. It's chilly in the house because I keep the thermostat down so low, but it doesn't seem to make any difference in the power bill. I just don't know what to do, except to write. Writing sometimes helps or at least it used to help me find a way to solve my difficulties.
Another thing that helps is prayer. I've been saying prayers off and on all day. They help when I'm saying them because then I don't want to cry. I'm rambling in this entry and that isn't any way to make a blog entry, but I don't know what else to do because I've started typing and I can't seem to stop. I think I'll close this entry and make me another cup of hot tea with a pepper mint candy cane in it.

Why am I worried?
Kamál (Perfection), 17 ‘Alá’ (Loftiness), 169 BE - Monday, March 18, 2013 about 10:30 AM Pacific Time
Why am I worried? I think I did everything I could, so now I just have to wait for the agency I contacted to call me, but I am still worried. Why am I worried? I am worried because of the electric bill. Specifically, I am worried about the power company turning off the electricity.
I contacted the proper agency, which help senior citizens with these problems. No one has gotten back to me yet; however, it may be that they still need to process my information. I hope they get back to me before March 21 because that is the deadline to pay t he bill. I put the request in online (which is the only way those request are taken). I returned the e-mail application the agency sent me and now I am waiting for a phone call to let me know when my appointment is scheduled.
I know I should have contacted the agency earlier; however, I did not, so I just have to deal with the consequences of my actions and of being financially poor. In the mean time, I cannot focus on the worry because it will hide any other actions I can take. In addition, I will work online while I still have electricity and an internet connection. I will also pray, because prayer will assist in finding any other solution available.

Autumn at last
‘Idál (Justice), 15 ‘Izzat (Might), 167 BE – Wednesday, September 22, 2010 about 5:52 PM Pacific Time
Autumn at last, I am looking forward to cooler days. I am looking forward to a lower power bill. I am looking forward to turning the cool air off. Today turned the thermostat up to 85 degrees, it will not have much of an effect on my next power bill, but the one after will be lower.
Today was a difficult day, not for Mom, but for me. I am tired and I have an appointment tomorrow for breast ultrasound. Things are going to be tight for the next few of months, but then our situation has been tight before so this is not anything new. I am tired; therefore, do what work I can tonight and attempt to go to bed early.

Summer in Las Vegas
It's summer in Las Vegas. I have the thermostat set at 79 degrees, which means the central air doesn't come on until the temperature reaches about 86 or 87 degrees. I haven't checked to see when the air comes on, I'm going to have to do that because I may have to set the thermostat slightly lower. I'll have to decide that after I see the next power bill.
The hottest temperatures in Las Vegas are in August. The bill will probably be high in July (which isn't due until August 6) and August (that is due September6). A year or so ago I have due date changed from the third week of the month to the first or second week (depending on when the 6th falls).
The power bill is now due a few days after the largest check hits the bank account. This helps; also, the past few bills have been under $200.00. Since I haven't see the next bill yet, I don't know how much it is, but I suspect it will be higher then the bill due on July 6. Fortunately, we're caught up on the power bill; therefore, I can put that out of my mind for a while and deal with other issues.
