I spent the last three days moving from one apartment to another. It
wasn't a long move because I only moved from apartment two to three. It
wasn't a traumatic move, but it was a bit weird. After I moved I
realized I couldn't find the pill box containing my thyroid tablets. I
didn't pick the box up before I left the apartment and one of the women
helping me move put them in one of the moving boxes, but she could
remember which one. I found the pill box on Wednesday afternoon so I was
able to take the pill this morning.
The refrigerator in this apartment died, so it was replaced. The new
refrigerator works, but for some reason the items don't feel cold to me,
so I may have to turn it up a notch. I'll see how they feel tomorrow.
It could be that the beverages haven't been in long enough for the
entire bottles to get cold. Most of the bottles are large containers of
fruit juice or soda. It could be that I like my juice to feel colder in
late spring and summer.
Then the Cox tech was late arriving and my internet connection didn't
get back up until later then I thought. After the tech left my router
couldn't find the internet so I had to manually reboot that. I finally
got back online and started catching up with the online commitments I
have. I have not encountered a new problem, which I suspect has to do
with the new furniture configuration in this apartment.
I put both computers on the same desk, which is a bit crowded, but at
least I don't have to move half way across the room when I need to use
the other computer. I also moved the location of the television. It is
now on my right side instead of behind me. This makes watching the news a
little easier. I missed watching the news on television. I don't think I
missed watching too many other programs, but I will have to see about
that when I get back into my news watching routine.
It feels weird having both computers on the same desk. It is a bit
uncomfortable, at least I feel uncomfortable which could be caused by
the new furniture configuration. The other desk is sitting across the
room. Right now it has my coffeemaker on it, but I think I will move the
coffeemaker into the kitchen and put the lamp on the desk. I can use
the desk to hold books or for writing in my journal. I'm still sleeping
on the loveseat, but I expect to begin sleeping my my bedroom as soon as
I can get a bed or a recliner.

I'm beginning to question my sanity
‘Idál (Justice), 18 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 170 BE - Wednesday, February 5, 2014 about 3:41 pm Pacific Standard Time
I'm beginning to question my sanity! This, of course, could be one of those minor issues that comes along with moving from a six bedroom, two bath house into a studio apartment with one bathroom. This question arose in my mind when I returned home from loading stuff from the house into my Kia Sephia. I was sitting by the computer sipping water from a mug (I don't have any glasses) and I realized how insane it was to attempt to keep all the stuff I'm lugging from the house.
The problem is that I don't or I think I don't have any other choice. A lot of the stuff I can send to my brothers or sister because it's family heirlooms. It will remain with me only until I can save enough money to ship it to whoever I decide to ship it to. That's going to take a while because some of the things are family pictures. I'm just tired from moving and attempting to get situated in a studio apartment.
I just have to keep plugging away. I have to get up when I wake up, rather then sitting under the covers thinking I'm cold. It isn't cold in this apartment, so the problem is me; the problem is physical. I'll just have to deal with it. Perhaps start the day off with a cup of hot water when I take my morning meds. I may even start heating water or apple juice in the microwave to drink in the evening rather then drink just cold water.
I'm tired, but it's too early to go to bed. There for I think I will take another stab at doing something with my clothes. I'll have to fold them and lay them on one of the televisions stand I brought until I can get some more hanger from the house so that I can hang them up.

Tomorrow is moving day in Las Vegas
Jamál (Beauty), 15 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 170 BE - Sunday, February 3, 2014 about 1:20 pm Pacific Standard Time
Tomorrow is moving day, so when I go offline tonight I won't be back on until late Monday or Tuesday . At least, those are the days I hope to be back online; however, God or the Fates have a sense of humor and I may not be back on line until Wednesday or Thursday.
One day is going to put me behind in my writing, submission, and blogging goals. I can't help that because I have to move. I have be out of this house this week, so there is no choice but to get offline until after I get the computers and the internet connections going at the apartment.
I have a mammogram appointment in the morning at 9:15, so I can't begin moving until after I keep that appointment and pay the first months rent. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing, which is normal for me. It's just that I want to get into the apartment, get my equipment set up so that I can plan the rest of my moth. I still have to come up with the money to cover a couple of things coming out of the bank account. I'll deal with that when I get into the apartment.
This may be the last entry I make for a couple of days, so everyone have a happy week.

Thoughts on Moving
Jalál (Glory), 14 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 170 BE - Saturday, February 1, 2014 about 4:17 pm Pacific Standard Time
I'm finally going to move into my new apartment (I think I mentioned this in yesterday's post), which means I have a lot to do on Saturday and Sunday. I put my four wooden television dinner stands in my trunk, but I think I left the trunk open after I put the last one in. I'll have to go out and close it in a few minutes.
I look out the living room window and realize that this is one of the last sunsets I'll see in this house. I will miss viewing the setting sun. The window in my apartment faces north rather then south, so I do not have a good view of the sunset. Watching the sunset is a good way get ideas for writing. All I have to do is sit and watch the sunset, while I mediate on t he sunset ideas come to me.
I have a lot more work to do online and in the house before I go to bed tonight (actually I'm sleeping on a love seat). I haven't slept in a real bed in several years and I probably will not sleep in one for a few more years. I'm taking the love seat because its shorter and will fit better in the apartment then the couch.
I'll attempt to make another entry on Sunday, but with so much work to do I don't know if it will be possible. This may be the last entry I make for a couple of days because I'm not sure how difficult it will be for me to connect the computers and the modems. I've never moved computers from one house to another, so I don't know how difficult it's going to be.

The Ball is Finally Rolling
The ball is finally rolling, I signed the lease agreement for the new apartment this afternoon. I'm feeling more confident about moving then every before. I'm looking forward to a busy weekend of packing and changing addresses. I have a lot to do and I should be worried about everything I have to do, but I'm not.
Oddly enough, I'm not worried about anything this afternoon. I think signing the agreement took a lot off my shoulders, so that I can now focus on getting thing accomplished instead of worrying how much longer I will be in this house. I think I'll fix me a cup of hot tea and start making a "To Do List".
Moving into the new apartment will be fun. At least I hope it will be fun. I'm so excited right now that I can hardly think, but I have to focus because I have so much to do. I know that one thing I need to do is make a list of everything I have to put in my car. I also have to make a grocery list of the stuff I need to purchase to eat.
I'm rambling, but that's how I get when I'm excited. It's getting a bit chilly in this house so I have to put on another sweater or sweatshirt. I hope the new apartment is easy to keep warm without a big electric bill. I know I'll have to increase my income; however, I think I can do that if I just push myself to work and write a little harder and better.
I'll still be living in Las Vegas, so that will mean I won't be driving into town every two or three days to see a doctor. I need to finalize my budget and see what I have to purchase on a monthly basis. I haven't thought about this before and I knew I would have to face it. I'm a bit worried about handling a budget with just me because it's easier to budget for more then one person.

Reasons I am looking forward to moving
Jalál (Glory), 7 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 170 BE - Saturday, January 25, 2014 about 8:00 am Pacific Standard Time
These are the reason I'm looking forward to moving...
1. ...no more going out before dawn or after sunset to roll the trashcan to the curb.
2. ...no more worrying about whether I have all the recyclable in the bins before carrying them to the curb.
3. ...no more worrying about falling down when I carry heavy recyclable bins to the curb.
4. ...only one bathroom to keep clean.
5. ...I can take a bath in a real bathtub instead of showing everyday.
6. ...I can do laundry once or twice a week when I take the cloths to the laundromat instead of feeling that I have to do them everyday because I have a washer and dryer in the house.
7. ...no more looking out my living room window and watching the weeds grow in my front yard because I can't pull them myself or can't afford to pay someone to do it.
8. ...getting to know a new neighborhood and new neighbors.
9. ...having only a studio apartment to clean and take care of instead of six rooms and two bathrooms.
10. ...having the choice to cooking food on a real stove or in a real oven.

Moving is a Traumatic Experience
Fiḍál (Grace), 9 Qudrat (Power), 170 BE - Tuesday, November 12, 2013 about 8:24 AM Pacific Standard Time
Moving is a traumatic experience, especially when moving from a three-bedroom house to a one-bedroom or studio apartment. I don't remember the last move being as traumatic as this one, but that was because we (Mom and I) were moving from a three-bedroom apartment to a three-bedroom house. I also wasn't doing most of the packing myself nor were we downsizing..
I decided this morning that "I do not want to move!" The reason is that I have to downsize and make the decision on what I have to give away, store, or throwaway by myself. Other people can help me pack, but I'm the one who has to decide what to do with the items that I don't want to keep. I can't consult with anyone about those items, someone else can suggest where to take them, but I'm the one who has to decide and that is difficulty.
I'll do what I have to do. I'll give away what I have to give away. I'll throwaway what I have to throwaway. I'll store what I have to store. I'll do all those things and all the while the thought in the back of my mind is that I'm probably going to regret throwing away or giving away something that I might need later.

Contemplations on Moving
Istiqlál (Independence), 10 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 170 BE - Friday, October 25, 2013 about 5:43 AM Pacific Time
It is the last Friday in October 2013 and it is the last October I will spend in this house. I am looking forward to moving, which is an event filled with both joy and tears. I am sad to be leaving a house Mom and I enjoyed living in. I am happy to be downsizing my life by moving into a smaller place.
I am moving to a smaller place that will be easier for me to keep clean. I am looking forward to making new friends and getting involved in new activities. I am looking forward to re-involving myself in some old activities I enjoyed with Mom. I am looking forward to making new memories and writing poems or stories about the old memories.
I am looking forward to moving someplace where I do not wake up in the middle of the night listening for the oxygen concentrator. Mom died on November 29, 2012, almost eleven months ago, I still wake up in the middle of the night listening for the noise of the oxygen concentrator. I still wake up thinking I hear Mom calling me and then realize it was only a dream. Perhaps in the new place I can sleep through the night without waking up listening for those sounds.
The old sounds still haunt
this house, its bedrooms and hall,
wake me at midnight.
