Inspiration falls
like the spring's warm rain
when I read the words of Baha'u'llah.

Vapor Lock

The inspiration is there
dawn still comes in all its scarlet splendor
lovers meet, embrace, fight, kiss, and separate
traffic flows, road kill decomposes,
stars shine, planets condenses, suns novae,
birth, death, and resurrection occur.

The inspiration is there,
but the flow is blocked
obstructed by stress overheating,
by bubbles forming between
the fuel pump and the engine.

Celestial Inspiration

Open the book of celestial inspiration,
its chapters are the sacred scriptures
of every religion.

Real aloud the holy verse,
feeling the Holy Spirit
as it flows through
sentence,
paragraph,
page,
and chapter.

Tuesday Meditation: Meditation on Inspiration

What  is inspiration? The dictionary give an uninspiring definition for inspiration. One of the online dictionaries say it has to do with mental stimulation which results in creating a painting or a poem. That is a beautiful scientific answer, but it doesn't satisfy the soul. It doesn't satisfy  the   poet in me. I could meditate all day on the subject and come up with an answer that only inspires me, but I don't  know if it  would be inspiring to someone else. Maybe each poet, artist, or novelist has to find his or her own inspiring definition of inspiration. 

God's word inspires

I find inspiration in God's word  for many of my poems and stories. I suspect that's where most of my inspiration comes from because I can write easier when I pray, read the sacred scriptures, and meditate. Thinking about the scientific definition of inspiration you could say that reading the scriptures stimulates my mind to write poetry and stories. I think that inspiration goes deeper than my brain or mind. I think the scriptures stimulate my soul which inturn stimulates my mind. 

Midweek Reflection on Religion, Spiritual, and Inspiration

The writing.com newsletters arrived in my inbox today. The title of the Spiritual newsletter was "Spiritual but not Religious?" And discussed the difference between spirituality and religion. The title of the short story newsletter was "What Happened?" and discussed inspiration resulting from news stories. The questions at the end of the short story newsletter whether the news inspired the reader even if the story were bad.  

These two newsletters got me to thinking about what inspires me. After a few minutes of meditation I realized that some of my inspiration comes from news stories, my religion, and my quest for spirituality. I also receive inspiration from taking morning walks. However, it is my religion and quest for spirituality that produce the most inspiration. 

I am one of those people who is both religious and spiritual. I know that a person can feel spiritual awe if he or she is not religious, however, with me my spiritual  pursuits go hand-in-hand with my religions. I have found, that even when a news story inspires me, my spiritual beliefs tend to show up in my finished work. 

Meditation Monday: Refilling the Well

How do I refill the well of my writing? Thought sleep, meditation, and prayer. I know that there is always more inspiration in the deep part of my well - which is my soul - and that it is through prayer and meditation that the water of inspiration refills my well.

Praise and gratitude.

Praise, gratitude, and healing prayers always refill the well of my inspiration. When I fell ill, I open my prayer book and say  a healing prayer. Most of the time I chose the long healing prayer, but it does not matter which one I chose because the prayer always refreshes and renews my inspiration.

Life is a Ditzy Internet Connection

It's windy in Las Vegas and my phone connection to my Internet provider is acting up more than usual. I realized this morning that's how life is sometimes. There are moments in my life when I'm suddenly disconnected the the Source of faith and inspiration. In those moments my life falls apart.

Connecting to the Source

When I'm disconnected from the Source, the fault is mine. In times of disconnection I find that I allow material details to come between myself and God. In those time I need to reconnect and reconnect immediately with God. How do I reconnect? Through prayer and meditation.

The prayers and scriptures revealed by Baha'u'llah and the Bab are excellent reconnectors. I can sit down, read or recite a prayer and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. I like to meditate and use the prayers of the Bab and Baha'u'llah during those times of disconnection. The reason is that I've found them the quickest way to become reconnect with the Source.
