We are one family
united in our diversity!
Earth,
is the common ground on which,
and God,
the Creator,
loves us all.
Each test
and difficulty
that we face
brings humanity
closer together
as one family.

Reading the Prayers of Baha'u'llah
I read the words of the Blessed Beauty,
My spirit flies to the throne of God,
Unity becomes a reality,
And humanity becomes my family.

My Mother wants to live to be 100
Jamál (Beauty), 5 Asma (Names), 165 B.E. – Sunday, August 24, 2008 about 6:25 AM Pacific Time
My mother, who was born in 1921, wants to live to be 100. So far she is doing a fairly good job of it, especially since the who attended her birth, 87 years ago didn't expect her to live, nor did the doctor who did her the bawl resection last year. Mom is alive and well, she still does her own housework and she writes poems. She doesn't drive a car anymore, but she does practice font seat driving from the passenger side of the car.
My grandparents were in their late 70s or early 80s when they died of cancer. My grandfather, who retired from a zinc smelter and smoked since he was 12 or 13, died of lung cancer. My grandmother of another kind, I can't remember precisely which cancer it she died of.
Mom will be 100 in March 2021 and I will be 74 in December 2020. I know a lot can happen between 2008 and 2020 or 2021, but I am going to look on the positive side. I am going to presume that we will both be in decent health for our ages. After all, medical technology is advancing and we are both is positive moods most of the time.
Right now we are in the process of having dental work done, Mom is going to get a new upper plate and a lower partial. I'm going to have all my teeth pulled and an entire set of dentures put into my mother. The next project is our eyes and hearing, I think the eyes will come first, but I'm not sure right now. I have to make some call Monday and Wednesday of this coming week to get some information on the process of having our eyes and hearing taken care of.

I Need a New Photo of Myself
Jalál (Glory), 9 Kamal (Perfection), 165 B.E. – Saturday, August 9, 2008 about 9:10 AM PDT
I need a new photo of myself. The one I'm using in this blog was taken on my last trip to Disney Land, which was sometime in the last century. I don't have any photos taken this year or last year. In fact, I haven't had a photo of myself, except the one on my pass port, taken in this century.
I'm not going to use the pass port photo on this blog and I'm not taking a new photo of myself until I get my new, full set of dentures. Therefore, the only thing to do is go through the boxes of photos I have in my closet. Those photos have to come out of the closet anyway, so that I can scan them and burn them onto CDs.
Family photos
people that I barely knew
and half remember
hide in the darkness of my closet
waiting to see the light of a new day.

Family and Transformation
Jamál (Beauty), 10 Baha (Splendor), 165 B.E. – Saturday, March 29, 2008 about 10:07 PM PDT
I haven't written much about transformation lately. Most concerns family memories and events in my life. On the surface family doesn't appear to have much to do with transformation or a butterfly emerging from her cocoon. However, if you think about the way a family influences a person growing up or living from day to day, you realize that they have a great deal of influence on a person becoming his or her true self.
We all have memories from our childhood that we would just as soon forget. Events happened in everyone's childhood that effected the person adversely. As we grow up we realize that we can control the way those memories influence our present situation. We do not have to hold onto the past, we can put the bad memories in the hands of God and let the divine guide us through the rest of our lives. A person can learn to forgive him or herself and everyone else. Just because we forgive doesn't mean we have to forget.

Family Memories Spring Edition
Kamál (Perfection), 2 ‘Alá (Loftiness), 164 B.E. – Monday, March 3, 2008 about 3:02 PM PST
Like photos in an old album
yesterday returns
as hardwood tress transform
winter death masks
into spring's verdant greens.
March winds carry with them
the memories of Oklahoma at planting time
grandpa digging up the ground,
grandpa putting chicken manure
onto grandma's flower beds
so that in a week or two
she could plant flowers that blossomed
red, gold, and violet.
An ancient cottonwood tree
growing new leaves proclaimed
the joy of a new season,
while the birds built nests
and hens sit on eggs
waiting for them to hatch.

Leap Year Memories
Kamal (Perfection), 17 Sultan 164 B.E. - Monday, February 3, 2008 about 5:03 PM PST
In leap years my grandparents always paid more attention to national events. Not that they didn't know what was going on nationally in the other years, but leap years were special because of the presidential elections. The thing I remember most about the leaps years going to the polls with my grandparents and waiting for them to vote. Grandma and Grandpa always voted, but my grandfather never tried to tell my grandmother who to vote for.
Another thing I remember about those leap years was that my grandparents never put down any of those running for any office national, state or local. Grandma and Grandpa always discussed the issues not those running for office. Maybe that's why I prefer to discuss the issues myself rather then anything else.

Thanksgiving is coming
11 Qudrat 164 B.E. - Wednesday, November 14, 2007 about 9:23 AM PST
Thanksgiving is next week on November 22, which is also the first of Qawl. The Feast of Qawl held on November 23. On the 22nd a friend is having a Unity Feast at her home. On the 22nd Mom and I are gong to my nieces for Thanksgiving dinner.
I'm looking forward to that because it's been a long time since we had Thanksgiving dinner with family. The meal is scheduled for 3:00 PM, but I think we'll go earlier in the day. I'm planning on going in the morning about 9:00 AM. It's not that I don't get up earlier. I usually get up between 4:00 and 5:00 AM, it takes me a while to wake up and get going.
