Motivational Monday: A Yoyo Day

Kamál (Perfection), 18 Sharaf (Honor), 173 BE - Monday, January 16, 2017 AD about Sunset Pacific Standard Time

This morning I woke up in a positive mood. Even before I had my first cup of coffee the morning looked bright with a smooth flowing day. Then my mood changed to negative. I'm not sure why it changed which is the problem. Most of the time I know why my mood goes sour, but this morning I didn't. I could have been financial problems. It could have been the issue with the car. It could have been any number of things. I said my prayers and my mood became more positive.

Then sometime this afternoon my mood changed again. After thinking about it, I decided the problem was that I hadn't said my Obligatory prayer. Therefore, I recited the short Obligatory prayer which helped. After that, I reviewed some more items on writing.com and did some surveys. That's when I noticed my mood changing again. I think part of the problem is doing survey after survey without qualifying for any. I noticed that I'm always in a better mood when I qualify to complete a survey. Other things that improve my mood are prayers and writing. Anyway, I'm in a more positive mood right now.

Midweek Reflections on the Effect of Music on my mood

'Idál (Justice), 6 Sharaf (Honor), 173 BE - Wednesday, January 4, 2017 AD about 11:16 AM Pacific Standard Time

To say that I started out the morning a bit depressed is an understatement.  I was descending into my normal January brown study and blogging about it in my writing.com blog. Two of the blog prompts I responded to today lent themselves to the subject. After I responded and posted those entries to the proper blog groups I checked the wirting.com newsfeed. There was a community challenge to listen to the song Celebration by Cool & The Gang and then write a response of some type. I chose to put my response, which was a free verse poem, in my writing.com blog.

As I listened to the music, I realized that my mood was changing. The fog of my January depression was lifting. I write the poem Celebration: Scattering the Darkness and posted it in my writing.com blog. After listening to the music and writing the poem, I'm feeling much more confident and a lot happier. I still have the same problems I did before I listened to the music, but now I can see clearly enough to figure out a solution. Depression doesn't help finding a solution to anything, in fact it makes the depressing situation worse because it hides the solution behind the fog of fear.

Spiritual Sunday: Sunday Thoughts about Mood

Jamal (Beauty), 9 Mulk (Dominion), 171 BE - Sunday, February 15, 2015 about 11:55 am Pacific Standard Time

I woke up in a good mood. I recited a prayer and intoned God's Most Great Name. I took my medication, I made a carafe of coffee and then I went to writing.com to do some work before eating breakfast. I have to wait about an hour after taking my medication before I can eat. I did some writing and a review before I started breakfast. Sometime after I took my medication and before I ate breakfast my mood began to change. It began to descend into depression.

I fixed breakfast and then I went to YouTube. I listened to Hank Williams Sr singing "I Saw the Light". Next I listed to a couple of Baha'i videos that had some of the prayer set to music. My mood lightened, but then my mood always gets better when I listen to spiritual music. I am in a better mood now so I heated up the soup I have been eating all weekend. I will finish it off today.

As long as I take some time to meditate and pray then my mood will stay positive. That is good because now I am not feeling very well physically. I am not sure what is causing the problem, so I am going to take a break in a few minutes to say the Long Healing prayer. I will not go to the ER or one of the clinics unless I absolutely have to so. If I am still feeling this way tomorrow then I will call one of my doctors to see if I can get an appointment.

I am Looking for a Positive Attitude

Fiḍál (Grace), 19 ‘Aẓamat (Grandeur), 170 BE - Tuesday, June 4, 2013 about 8:11 AM Pacific Daylight Time

It's Tuesday, June 4, and I'm looking for a positive attitude. I'm not feeling very well so perhaps that's why my attitude is negative. I wrote a response to an image prompt for a blogging challenge I'm participating in on writing.com. I wrote a poem in response to the prompt, so my response was neither too negative or too positive.

It was only after I wrote the response that my attitude began to turn negative. I've noticed that I can wake up in a positive mood, but after I've been up a while my positive attitude turns negative. Sometimes I'm not sure what causes the change and at other times I realize why my attitude changes. This morning I suspect it changed because of technical issues with one of my computers. When it comes to technology, I suspect I have issues with patience.

Sometimes my positive mood changes when I have difficulties with technology. I know that letting a piece of equipment affect my mood is silly. I have to figure out why technology issues bother me more then they should.  I guess the only way to do that is to attempt a free write exercise in my off line journal.

It was a good morning

When I got up, it was a good morning. Now I'm not sure, however, I reserve the right to change my mind about that. I don't know that I will change my mind because once the mood of the morning changes from good to difficult, it usually remains difficult.

After the morning
mood changes from good to bad
a long day ahead.

Going to be up all night

Jalál (Glory), 3 Nur (Light), 165 B.E. – Saturday, June 7, 2008 about 7:14 PM PDT

I'm going to be up all night. I have computer maintenance, file download and review on writing.com to complete. The computer maintenance comes first of course and then the file downloads. Between the two, I will do a couple of reviews. The file I'm going to download takes a while, so perhaps I can cat nap while it's downloading.

I did have other plans for tomorrow besides sleeping, but I can't do the download or maintenance during the week because I work and they take a long time. I don't like to leave things like that alone very long while a download occurs. I already tried to download the software twice and it didn't complete properly. I'll have to do it later tonight.

I need to get DSL, it would make my life so much easier. Of course, with a dial-up connection one does learn patience. Patience is something I seem to be lacking lately. It could be that I need to get back on my meds; being off them may affect my moods. I have a doctor's appointment Monday afternoon to discuss the results of lab tests. The doctor will probably give me a prescription for my meds then. I hope so, because I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
