A wind advisory was issues for Southern Nevada early this morning.
According the the website I checked we can expect winds between 25 to 35
miles per hour with gust up to 45 mph. I haven't looked outside yet so I
don't know how strong the wind is my my neighborhood. I plan to take a
walk later this morning or early this afternoon. I suppose I'll have to
wear a wind breaker and a hat.
I have two or three baseball type hats I can were, but only one of them
fits me well enough to wear it in the wind. Since I use a walker I can't
chase my hat if it blows off my head. Perhaps I should put my hair in a
pony tail. When I watched the channel three news yesterday one of the
anchors suggested that people with long hair put their hair up in a pony
tail. That would prevent my hair from blowing in my face and I wouldn't
have to wear a hat.

Winter Storm Warning, High Wind Warning, and Wind Advisory

I am looking forward to spring. I am looking forward to warm weather. I am looking forward to a nice soft spring breeze. The latest Severe Weather Bulletin released by the Weather Service concerns a Winter Storm Warning, a High Wind Warning, and a Wind Advisory, which all include Clark County Nevada.
I am tired of winter. I am tired of high winds. I am tired of looking out my living room window every morning to see if the one stone pine tree remaining in my yard is still standing. I did have one tree removed this February. I will be paying that off for the next two or three months. I cannot afford to have the final tree removed for at least another six to twelve months.
The T.V. Weather person predicts rain for this weekend. Rain is good because it washes my car. Rain is good because in this part of Nevada we are experiencing a drought. The disadvantage to the rain is that I have to drive in it. I have to take a prescription to the pharmacy and I have to pick up a box of food I ordered in late January. I hope it waits until I get back home tomorrow before it starts raining, but just incase it rains tonight I am going to roll my car windows up.

I am still hanging in there
As you can see, the cat is still hanging on to his limb. I am stilling hanging on myself. Yesterday evening the Weather Bureau announced a wind advisory for Clark County, since Las Vegas covers most of Clark County Nevada we had wind gust of 40 mph. and fortunately, the wind did not blow down the remaining stone pine in my front yard.
The tree still look as ill as ever, but at least it is still standing. I am not sure how long that will last, especially if we get any more high winds. I had the tree closest to the street and the power lines removed this month. I am going to be paying it off for the next several months, so
I cannot have the remaining tree removed this year.
Yesterday, when Mom and I returned I parked the car in the driveway. When the wind started blowing, I went out and moved the car closer to the house. I did not know if the tree would stand up to the wind and I did not want the car parked too close to it.

Another Wind Advisory

About 3:18 PM today, the Weather Service issued another Wind Advisory for Mohave Count Arizona and Clark County Nevada. According to the Glossary definition I found on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service site, a wind advisory refers to 25 to 39 mile per hour “sustained winds” or 57 mile per hour “wind gusts”.
Winds that fast make me nervous, especially since I have mature stone pine trees in my front yard. The trees do not look well and I am going to have to have them removed. A couple of years ago the wind took out the elm tree, which was much smaller then the pines. I am going to have to figure out how to get rid of the trees. They have to go before a big gust of wind takes one or both of them out.
I had planned to have the garage door fixed this month, but the trees have to come first. I will clean out my garage and drive the car in, I will not be about to close the door, but at least the car will be in the garage. Since the trees are leaning away from the garage, I doubt the wind will blow them down onto the garage.

Life was boring before I turned 60

All right, maybe that title is an overstatement. I know that ever since I turned 60 my life has become stressful, on the verge of tears, hilarious at odd moments, but never uninteresting or boring. Sometimes it seems as if life is moving at hurricane speeds sweeping me toward a dense fog bank.
On December 24, 2011, I will be 65 years old. I will be old enough to go on Medicare if it still exists and I survive. I am no longer worried about the world ending in 2012, now the most important thing in my life if to have the stone pine trees removed from my front yard before the wind does the job for me.
Today is February 1, the weather service has issued a high wind watch and a wind advisory for Clark County Nevada. This morning, I woke up and immediately looked out my living room window to make sure the trees were still standing. I will do the same thing on the morning of February 2 and everyday thereafter until I get the trees removed.
Since I cannot afford to have the trees removed, I am writing about removing the trees. I am not sure what good blogging about tree removal will do, but it makes me feel better for a little while. As I implied at the beginning of this entry, life is becoming extremely interesting.

A High Wind Watch

The Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch and a Wind Advisory for Clark County, Nevada. Since Las Vegas is in Clark County that means we are included in this weather forecast. This is upsetting because I have two trees in my yard I need to remove and the last time the wind took out a tree in my yard was in February.
The trees are leaning toward the street, so they may not fall on the garage or the house. Still I do not like the idea of the wind taking the trees out before I can afford to have them removed. I am not sure what to do at this point, except pray. Pray that the trees remain standing. Pray that the wind does not blow hard enough to set records.
Living is Las Vegas is interesting because of the weather. It is not always dry in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is in a valley with mountains all around, so we get interesting weather. True we do not get the spectacular change of seasons like other parts of the country, but we do have interesting and upsetting weather.
