There is a first time for everything

Today, I baked cookies in the microwave for the first time. I knew it was possible; I just had not attempted it. I had a package of cookie dough in the fridge. I opened the package and broke apart the dough. Then I put the cookies in a microwave safe dish. I set the timer at 1.25 and turned the oven on. The cookies turn out well, considering that the instructions on the package were for a regular oven.

The only oven in the house that works is the microwave. I have no other choice; I have to use the microwave whenever I bake anything. I would prefer not to guess at the time, especially with cookies. I could not leave the cookie dough in the refrigerator any longer, so I baked them today. I still have a package of cookie mix in the refrigerator. I will fix it this coming week. I think I need to add eggs to the mix, so I cannot bake it until I go to the store again.

I also have a couple of squash in the refrigerator, so I will bake them in the microwave. I like baked squash better then fried squash. I will post the recipe I use for the squash once I decided on the ingredients.

I am staying home and leaving the porch light on

Normally, we go out on Halloween night; however, tonight I'm staying home and leaving the porch light on. I bought candy (probably too much candy, because I always buy too much candy). I bought candy that Mom and I will eat, so if there is any left from Halloween night there won't be a problem. I'll put the leftover candy in the freezer and we will eat it a little at a time.

As a child, I enjoyed Halloween, but now it's just another day. When we were growing up my Grandmother would make cookies for the Trick or Treater's. All the neighborhood kids would come to our house because they knew they would get homemade cookies. Grandma enjoyed making the cookies. The neighborhood kids enjoyed getting the cookies and their parents didn't have to worry because they knew who made the cookies.

I bought some Halloween cookies

I bought a tray of two dozen Halloween cookies yesterday. The cookies are chocolate and vanilla decorated like carved pumpkins. There are enough cookies to last several days because the only one's in the house are my mother and myself.

I had two cookies for breakfast this morning. I found one disadvantage to having false teeth and eating cookies. I can't seem to bit off a piece of the cookie. I think the issues is getting used to the dentures and I'm sure I won't have this problem very long.

I solve the problem this morning by dunking my cookies in my coffee. I like to dunk my cookies in coffee, so not being able to bit off a piece of cookie isn't a problem. Dunking a cookie in coffee changes the taste of the cookie and the coffee.

I Want Halloween Cookies

I want cookies decorated for Halloween. I want cookies decorated with orange pumpkins carved to resemble smiling faces. I want cookies decorated with black cat designs. I haven't found any cookies decorated like that in the stores. Of course, I haven't went into very many stores this October.

I want Halloween cookies to eat with a hot cup of coffee. I want Halloween cookies to drink with a tall cold glass of milk. When I was a child, Grandma always baked us cookies and served the hot cookies with a cold glass of milk.

I remember Grandma's cookies. She baked cookies for all the neighborhood kids on Halloween. Grandma celebrated every occasion by baking cookies, pies or cakes. She always made sure that there were cookies for the neighborhood kids who came to the house any time of the year. Grandma liked to bake.

I found a tin of cookies in the cupboard

I found a tin of cookies in the cupboard when I was straightening out the canned food items. I remember bringing the cookies home around Christmas 2008. It's unusually for cookies to remain in the house for that long because we usually eat them up right away. However, I know what happened.

I put them in the cupboard with the canned goods and then put canned goods in front of them. I hid the cookies behind the cans of veggies. That's why I was straightening out the canned goods, so I could see what we had to use immediately. I'm glad I found the cookies because now we can have cookies and coffee for breakfast or cookies and ice cream for desert today.

Normally, one of us, either Mom or I, straightens the canned goods every couple of months or so. For some reason this year, I waited until February to do that job. I don't know why because straightening out the canned goods is the easiest housecleaning chore there is. All I have to do is take the cans out and put them in order starting with veggies and sauces then going to fruits. Maybe that's why I left it until February because it's the easiest job to do.

It's Saturday again

Well, it's Saturday again,

January 2008 is almost at an end.

I have encountered both successes and failures in the past week and in January. The failure teach lessons, which later successes are based on. I'm still thanking about the lessons I've learned this week and month. One f the most important is to look for the answers to prayers. Never presume that a prayer isn't answered simply because you don't get the answer you want I think I've encountered the before, but I seem to forget the lesson periodically and have to be taught it again.

Now to the success and thing's I've never did before. I had a peanut butter cookie mix I needed to make this past week, but my oven isn't working. I mixed the dough and fixed it in the Microwave. I fixed it as a cake rather then cookies and it turned out well. I enjoyed fixing the mix and figuring out how to get it to work in the Microwave, especially since I didn't have a proper cookie sheet for that oven. I think fixing the cookies the way I did was an interesting success.
