Do not call me elderly:
I am an elder!
An Elder,
with sixty plus years of wisdom
acquired through surviving
in a materialistic society
that values youth and beauty
more than age and wisdom.
Do not dismiss me
or my ideas
with "OK Boomer!"
show a little respect
and listen to what I have to say;
even if you don't take my advice,
you may hear something interesting
about history and elder wisdom.

How Beautiful is the Morning?
How beautiful is the morning?
Beautiful the scarlet rays of dawn.
Is it time for the Lord to return?
The Glory of the Lord reveals
Morning to humanity.
How beautiful is the morning?
Beautiful the white clouds up above.
Is it time to proclaim
The splendor of the Lord's return?
Morning is passing quickly.
How beautiful is the morning?
Beautiful the pilgrims going eastward.
Is there a reason to rejoice?
The Most Great Name intoned in
Morning's crisp air.
How beautiful is the morning?
Beautiful is God's dawning light.
Is this the reason that we sing?
The nightingale intones
Morning's might.

The Day of Beauty in Las Vegas
Jamal (Beauty), 9 'Izzat (Might), 169 B.E. - Sunday, September 16, 2012 about 9:24 AM Pacific Time
It is Sunday. It is Jamal. It is the day of Beauty. As I sit typing this, I look out my window and see the blue cloudless sky. The sun is bright, while the shadows cast by buildings and trees are dark. It is warm, but not uncomfortably hot. It is a beautiful day in Las Vegas.
It is a good beginning to a new week. This morning when I got Mom out of bed I noticed that the swelling in her legs has gone down. This is wonderful because perhaps she can begin wearing her shoes again. For the past few weeks Mom has worn only socks because she retains water and her feet swell. Mom will be happy about that because she has been worried about her shoes.
I hope the temperature tomorrow is not hot. I have to go to the store in the morning because there are a couple of necessities I have to buy. This morning, I used the last trash bag in the house so I have to go shopping in the morning. Since I going to the store for trash bags, I should get some other things as well. I need to get unsalted butter because I need it to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

Inspirational Quote of the Week: Thoughts on beauty and details
Jalál (Glory), 10 Bahá (Splendor), 169 BE – Saturday, March 31,
2012 about 1:55 PM Pacific Time
"God is in the
details." Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
In the subtle lines that flow,
ascending
through the reflections
of dark and light,
day and night.
Beauty and glory
revealed
to my eyes
every morning
and evening.
Sometimes we forget to look at the deals of beauty in
everyday life. At the buildings, we enter or live in. Watch the clouds moving
across the blue sky and forming shapes, which intrigue our minds. Look closely
at the ants crawling across our driveways or sidewalks, as they hunt food or
return to their homes.
Look at the detail of everyday items. Look closely and you
will see the divine beauty reflecting back. There is beauty and perfection in
the details that we sometimes miss because we are looking at the entire item
and not focusing on the subtle elements that make up the objects we are using
in our daily existence.
We live in a world containing both natural and human created
beauty. Sometimes we look at a skyscraper and do not see the subtle line incorporated
by the architect. Instead of looking at the details, we look at the dirty
windows and the litter on the sidewalk around it. We need to look at the beauty
and if we cannot see the beauty then perhaps we need to clean up the litter so
we can see the beauty of details.

Morning on the day of Beauty
Jamál (Beauty), 9 Kamál (Perfection), 166 BE – Sunday, August 9, 2009 about 6:36 AM Pacific Time
It's morning on the day of beauty and the sun is lighting up the inside of my garage. Illuminating the doors waiting for me to have them reinstalled, if I'm going to have them put on the master bedroom and bathroom entrances. The master bedroom had one of those accordion-like doors, which was removed a few years ago.
The bathroom is divided into the vanity part and the bathroom. The vanity room has a curtain in front of it while between the vanity and the bathroom is another accordion door. The door doesn't lock, but it closes. We broke the lock on that door four or five years ago when it was inadvertently locked and we couldn't get in.
Every morning the sun comes up and shines into my garage illuminating those doors. Every morning I consider having the doors reinstalled and that's as far as it gets. I guess if I haven't had them rehung by now, I'm not going to do it. Therefore, I should move them so I can put something else in that spot. Perhaps I should investigate how much it would cost me to have them rehung, there must be a handy man in Las Vegas that can do that type of work.

Things I have to be Thankful for Today
Fidál (Grace), 1 Jamál (Beauty), 166 BE – Tuesday, April 28, 2009 about 9:52 AM Pacific Time
This is Tuesday and not Thursday, the day I usually make my gratitude list. However, today started off on a downward note, so I think I need to list a few of the thing I'm thankful for today. I'm not sure if it will change to tone of the day, but it will help change my mood and point of view.

Today I an thankful
- that last night was the Feast of Jamal (Beauty)
- that Mom and I were able to attend the Feast last night
- that I had enough cash for the co-pay to the hospital for Mom's out patient surgery Thursday
- that I could buy $15.00 in gas yesterday
- that we have enough coffee and paper filters in the house to make a fresh pot of coffee today
- that I found two empty aluminum cans in the hospital parking lot yesterday
- that its too warm to have the heat on and too cool to turn on the cold air
- that my virus scan program runs automatically on start up when I miss the last scheduled scan
- that I still have one cloths line up in the backyard to dry cloths
- that I have coupons to get veggies at the Farmers' Market
I think listing what I have to be thankful for helped. Maybe I should try this more often when the day or the situation begins looking dark.

The Day of Beauty
Jamál (Beauty), 14 ‘Alá (Loftiness), 165 BE – Sunday, March 15, 2009 about 11:46 AM Pacific Time
Sunday beauty's day
revealing the Lord's glory
to humanity.
I remember my grandmother reading to me on Sunday. I remember grandma reading the bible, storybooks and poems to me. I don't think she every read a haiku, I'm not sure grandma ever knew the different forms poets use to write poems.
When I was a child, my grandmother didn't talk to me about many things. Some of the subjects were those she wouldn't talk about with a child. Some of subjects weren't discussed because I never thought to bring up the question and poetry forms was one of these.
Actually, I didn't realize there were so many different poetry forms until I started editing my poems. Once I begin the process of rewriting and perfecting the poem, I discovered a variety of forms. I use as many of the forms I can to write poems, but one of the forms I like best is the haiku. I suspect my grandmother would have liked it as well.

Beauty is an attribute of God
Jamal (Beauty), 4 Mulk (Dominion), 164 B.E. - Sunday, February 10, 2008 about 3:20 PM PST
It's a beautiful cloudy afternoon in Las Vegas. This morning I looked out my living room window and saw blue sky. This afternoon I look out and see white clouds, so there isn't going to be any rain soon. The sun shine through patches in the clouds giving the day a spiritual feeling.
All right, I'm in a better mood this afternoon then I was this morning. I went to get gas and was over joyed that I had enough money to get 1 gallon of gas. It apparently doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I must admit that I did a rant this morning in my writing.com blog. I feel sorry that I wrote so much, but I haven't gone back and deleted the entry. The entry was part of a journal contest I'm participating in on writing.com. However, I don't think that is why I didn't delete it.
