Jalál (Glory), 1 Qawl (Speech), 170 BE - Saturday, November 23, 2013 about 11:00 AM Pacific Standard Time
I attended the Feast of Qawl (Speech) at the Baha'i Center last night. At the Feast, I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and Baha'u'llah. It is such a calming feeling and this morning I still have that tranquil feeling even this late in the day.
This morning, I pick up some fruit, vegetables, bread, cookies, and a pumpkin pie from one of the food pantries. I had not planned to go this morning because of the rain, but after a couple of cups of warmed over coffee I changed my mind. On the morning after attending a nineteen-day feast, I usually end up changing my plans about something or other. I am glad I went to pick up the free food because one of the items I received was a watermelon, which I think I will cut later today after it has sit in the refrigerator for a while.

A Chilly October Morning
‘Idál (Justice), 1 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 170 BE - Wednesday, October 16, 2013 about 9:40 AM Pacific Daylight Time
On this chilly October morning,
I think back to last night's drive
across Las Vegas.
Traffic was heavy,
on Charleston Avenue,
as I drove west
toward Rainbow Boulevard
and the Baha'i Center
on West Oakey.
On this chilly October morning,
I contemplate the tranquility
at the Feast of Knowledge,
as I listened to the sacred scriptures
and the prayers
celebrating
the beginning of a new month.

The First Day of Ridvan
Jamál (Beauty), 13 Jalál (Glory), 170 BE - Sunday, April 21, 2013 about 9:05 AM Pacific Daylight Time
It is April 21, the First Day of Ridvan. It is a Holy Day celebrating the Declaration of Bahá’u’lláh. The celebration begin on the evening of Saturday, April 20, at the Baha'i Center. I attended the celebration last night and was so excited that I could not sleep after I returned home. I finally got to sleep sometime this morning and then the alarm woke me up at 4:00 AM so that I could take my thyroid medication.
I turned the alarm off, took my medication, and went back to sleep, but I got up again about 6:00 AM. That time I got up permanently because there was no use going back to sleep. After I got up, I checked the chicken in the refrigerator to see it it was thawed so that I could cook a couple of pieces. I have the leg and thy sections cooking now.
There is something going on at the Baha'i Center this afternoon. I think I will attend, I missed going to Holy Day celebrations and the nineteen-day feast while I was taking care of Mom. I can begin going back to those things now. I know I have a lot of stuff to do here at the house; however, take a break for spiritual matters will energize me to get more accomplished at home.

I attended a Holy Day Commemoration today
Kamál (Perfection), 16 Rahmat (Mercy), 169 BE – Monday, July
9, 2012 about 7:15 PM Pacific Time
Today, I attended the Commemoration of the Martyrdom of the
Bab. It’s been a long time since I had the opportunity to attend a Holy Day
Commemoration or Celebration. It’s been a long time since I attended a
nineteen-day Feast. I sat in the audience, took in the spiritual atmosphere,
and wrote two poems. I enjoyed the opportunity so much that I didn’t even mind
the drive back in the heat.
While I was at the center, I saw some old friends and met
some new friends. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity to attend an
event at the Las Vegas Baha’i Center. It may be a while because the only time I
have to attend anything is Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM,
but I know the opportunity will eventually come. All I have to do is have a
little patience.

Mom enjoyed herself at the Baha’i Center in Las Vegas
Jamál (Beauty), 7 Mashíyyat (Will), 167 BE – Sunday, October 3, 2010 about 2:51 PM Pacific Time
This morning, Mom and I went to the Baha'i Center in Las Vegas. Mom smiled during the spiritual and musical portion of the program, I have not seen Mom smile so much in a long time. She saw several old friends, who live in different communities in the Las Vega valley.
We ate breakfast and lunch. Mom ate more today then she has eaten at two meals in a long time. Mom always eats more when she goes out then at home. I wish I could get her to eat more at home. I wish I could take her out to eat more often.

Thursday was a relaxing day
Istiqlál (Independence), 3 ‘Izzat (Might), 167 BE – Friday, September 10, 2010 about 12:56 PM Pacific Time
I didn't know driving across Las Vegas could be so much fun. I spent five unhurried hours yesterday just relaxing. I went to the bank for a print out of my checking account. I went to Border's to buy writers' magazines. I went to the Baha'i Center on West Oakey. I went to Smith's Food & Drug store for groceries. I went to Panda Express for food. I had an enjoyable five hours away from care giving. I came back home relaxed and ready to take care of Mom.
Today I have to catch up on the things I didn't get done yesterday, but that is all right. I enjoyed myself just driving around Las Vegas. I think I may attempt a mini vacation again next month if I can find the money. This month I had five hours left on a grant I had to use up, so I took the five hours to relax and do some business. Mom didn't like it, but as a results I can take better care of Mom.
