Tests and Difficulties: Patience

Patience,
is a virtue,
that sometimes escapes me:
"The Remover of Difficulties" helps.

This poem is, also, posted in the journal Writing in Snow, under the folder Awaridcon Items, in my writing.com port.

Spiritual Sunday: Cleaning out My Coffeemaker

Jamál (Beauty), 15 ‘Alá’ (Loftiness), 170 BE - Sunday, March 16, 2014 about 4:56 pm Pacific Daylight Time

As I write this, vinegar water is running through my coffeemaker to clean it out. I do this once a month to make sure that the coffeemaker last longer and the coffee taste good. As I was pouring the water into the tank, I realize that tests and difficulties doe the same thing for the human soul that vinegar water does for a coffeemaker.

Tests and difficulties clean our souls, when a person encounters a tests and turns to God that person's soul is cleaned. The person is prepared so that he or she can better serve God. The soul is cleaned of the dross that daily living deposits, which comes between the Divine Essence (God) and the individual.

If the person prays daily, instead of only turning to God in times of crises and tests, the person will have a smoother ride through the tests. However, no amount of prayer or scripture reading will prevent the soul from confronting tests and difficulties.

Tests, Difficulties and Dentures

Jalál (Glory), 9 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 166 BE – Saturday, October 24, 2009 about 2:24 PM Pacific Time

I found out long ago that life is full of tests and difficulties, which assist in the development of my soul. These tests and difficulties help me develop spiritual attributes. These tests and difficulties come in expected and unexpected ways.

I never expected to encounter difficulties with my dentures. The problem I have is the denture adhesive; I have not found a denture adhesive I can use. I have to accept the possibility that I may not be able to use safely any type of adhesive to hold my dentures. If that is the case, I am going to have to learn to use my dentures without an adhesive.

The problems I am having with my dentures is to help me develop a spiritual attribute. I am not sure which spiritual attribute, but probably persistence. I still have a couple of different types of denture adhesives to try. I am also learning how to eat again; I am learning to chew my food slowly. One advantage of chewing slowly is enjoying the taste of the food.

Persistence pays off

Istiqlál (Independence), 5 Kalimát (Words), 166 BE – Friday, July 17, 2009 about 8:14 AM Pacific Time

Persistence pays off! I spent the entire morning attempting to make post to my blogs. The connection is slow this morning and when I went to save a draft or publish the post it didn't work. I think the problem is a combination of the weather and a telephone hook-up to my Internet provider. I'm going to have to get DSL there is just no getting around it.

It took me two hours to make one entry to another blog and it appears I'm going to have the same difficulty making this entry. That's all right, eventually I will get the entry posted I just have to be persistent. I can't let difficulty with my connect stop me from making a post.

This experience is a transformative experience. Transformation is the reason a person encounters tests and difficulties. If it weren't for tests and difficulties neither human beings nor civilazation would advance.

The end of a difficult day

It's the end of a difficult day at the end of a difficult week near the end of a difficult month. I don't see anything getting easier, of course I don't see it getting more difficult either. Still you never know when confronted by difficulties precisely how difficult the situation or the problems will become.

I have writing and on-line assignments to complete. I have housework to do. I have a garage full of trash and junk. My driveway needs re pouring, I have to take the car to the mechanic sometime within the next week or so, and I'm tired. I have to get a blood test sometime next week, so I will ask the doctor if there is a physical reason for me being tired.

Someone is coming for the fridge that's setting in the garage Monday. The fridge is running so that the people can see it works. Once I get rid of the fridge then I have a dryer in the garage that doesn't work and I have an old couch that needs taken away. Someone might be able to recover the couch, but I have neither the inclination nor the money for that.

Since I don't see the difficulties getting easier, I'm just going to take each day as it comes. Beginning each with prayer and ending each with prayer. After the past week or so all I can do is handle each problem as it comes up. At this point, the only thing to do is take each day one at a time and hope for the best.
