An interesting Day At the Doctors

Fiḍál (Grace), 12 Sharaf (Honor), 173 BE - Tuesday, January 10, 2017 AD about 4:32 PM Pacific Standard Time

The good news is that I didn't gain any weight and I didn't lose any. I weighted the same as I did in December when I went to another doctor. My kidney function has changed so that's another piece of good news. The bad news is that when I went to pick up my prescriptions today they cost $3.30 each instead of $2.95. In addition to the rise in prescription prices, I also have co-pays when I go to a specialist. This means that any specialist I go to I have to pay a $10.00 co-pay.

I know that doesn't sound like much, but when that's added to the extra $50.00 I  have to pay for rent that adds up. I know one thing, I'm probably not going to do this is have a podiatrist cut my toenails. I know they need cut, but I'm going to have to figure out a way to do it myself. I have to go to nephrologist (kidney doctor) and an optometrist because of medical conditions those doctors specialize in, but I don't necessarily have to go to a podiatrist. All though I will admit having a podiatrist cut my toenails is cheaper than having a pedicure which I don't think is necessary.

My Optometrist Appointment

Fiḍál (Grace), 6 Masá’il (Questions), 170 BE - Tuesday, December 17, 2013 about 1:23 pm Pacific Standard Time

I went to the optometrist this morning for my normal six month eye examination. My appointment was for 9:45 am and I arrived at the office about 9:15. I sit in the waiting room for about 45 or 50 minutes before the nurse called me back to begin the normal battery of test. I enjoyed sitting in the waiting room because I could see the fish tank and watch the fish swimming around.

There were four fish nice sized small fish swimming back and forth, up and down in the tanks what was decorated with either faux coral or dead coral (I couldn't tell which). The fish in the tank were orange, striped, white with black spots, and charcoal. It was a pleasant wait sitting there watching the fish swim or sleep.

After the nurse or office assistant called me to begin the battery of tests my appointment moved rather quickly. I took a book with me, but I didn't have time to read much. I go out of the office between 11:00 and 11:30 am and drove back to the house because the doctor had my eyes dilated today and I didn't want to drive more then necessary. As a result, I still have to go to the grocery store which I'll probably do tomorrow morning.

Monday Mumblings: My visit to the Optometrist Office

It’s Monday evening and I have finally brought my emotions under control after my Optometrist appointment this morning. I got bad news from the Optometrist; there is no way of sugar coating this. I have glaucoma!

After I left the Optometrist, the eye doctor’s office, I had to make another stop. Therefore, I put off considering the prognosis until after I came home. There a just some things that you don’t want to deal with in public. I put off thinking about it because I didn’t want to set in a crowded waiting room crying.

When I came home, I was tired. I sat down on the couch and dozed. After that, the doctor’s prognosis began to sink in. I wanted to cry, but by that, time Mom was home and I couldn’t cry in front of her. I would love to talk to Mom about this and that is impossible. As anyone reading this knows, my Mother has Alzheimer’s disease and it’s difficult to have any type of conversation with her.

Since I can’t talk to Mom and all of my siblings live in other cities, I write about it. I made an entry in my offline journal. This is the first blog entry I’ve made on the subject, but it won’t be the last. I have another appointment with the optometrist in a few weeks. Before that appointment I will do some research and have questions written down to ask
