Thoughts on the New Year

Seven days until the end of the Gregorian year, 

Eighty-seven days until the end of the Badí or Bahá'í calendar, 

I have a great deal planned for the coming weeks: 

Go away fear! 

I place everything in Baha'u'llah's hands, 

Because alone I cannot accomplish any goals or plans, 

I know that God may have many things in mind, 

Therefore, I place everything in His hands 

And the hands of His Glory. 

Baha'u'llah is the Glory of God, 

The reflection of the Divine Unknowable Essence 

To humanity. 

Daylight Savings Time Ends

Daylight savings time ended at 2:00 AM and I got all my clocks set back at 4:00 AM. Normally, it takes me about a week to get all the clocks tuned back, but not this year. It could be that I only have two clocks to take care of because the cell phone and the computer reset the time automatically. Now I have to check all the calendars to see if they either Mom or I tuned from October to November.

All right, I am the one who normally turns the calendars over at the end or beginning of the month. Mom forgets to change them; in fact, Mom forgets she has a calendar in her room. I think I will cut down on the amount of calendars in the house next year. Mom needs a calendar in her room, even if she does not remember she has one she still needs a calendar. I need a calendar at the living room entrance, by the telephone, and at my desk. That is four calendars and that is all we need.

If I receive more then four calendars then I will give some away. There is no use having a calendar in every room if I cannot remember to turn it over at the end of every month.

Saving Money at the end and beginning of the year

I sent for my first free 2011 calendar last night. The subject is Women's Health and it will take 4 to 6 weeks for the calendar to arrive. Free calendar offers always indicate the end of a year. Free calendars are a good way to save money. Instead, of buying a calender in the store, I send for calendars that interest me.

Calendars cost any where from $0.99 to $5:00, sometimes more, so a free calendar helps the beginning and end of the year budget. I buy calendars as gifts, but I don't buy them for myself anymore. The money I save by sending for free calendars goes to buy gas, food, or as a donation. Many people don't realize how much they can save simply by getting a couple of free calendars.

It's wise to look at your needs when sending for free calendars. I put a calendar above my desk, by the door in the living room, beside the telephone, and in my writing planner. I know I will probably receive four calendars from local business, so I need to have one more calendar. I may need another calendar for the dining room and the entrance hall. I will decide before the end of September if I'm going to put calendars in those locations in 2011.

Always check your Planning Calendar

It's wise to always check your planning calendar, both in the morning and the evening. I didn't check my calendar yesterday fortunately I this morning I went to Henderson to pick up my mammogram and ultrasound results. My appointment with the beast specialist is tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM instead of 11:30.

This means I'm going to have to get going in the morning. I won't be able to get online until after I get back. That's all right, today I couldn't find anything to blog about. I think I'm worried about the appointment and what the doctor will find. I've had one mammogram and two ultrasounds, without any conclusion one way or the other. I would really like to know the prognosis.

I received a new 2010 Water Smart calendar through the mail several days ago. I just started looking at it yesterday and realized I hadn't been to a poetry reading in over a year. I'm in a rut, I need to get out of my rut. Therefore, I'm going to start back to poetry readings next week.

Monday is Baha'u'llah's Birthday

Monday is Baha'u'llah's Birthday. On Sunday evening after sunset a celebration of the event is planned for the Baha'i Center in Las Vegas. I'm not sure what is planned, but it ought to be fun. The celebration is held in the evening because the calendar followed by the Baha'is is a solar calendar. That means that the day begins at sunset on one day and ends at sunset on the next.

I've written a single stanza Octava Rima about commemorating Baha'u'llah's birth. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to add another stanza to it. I'd planned two stanza, but the second just wasn't working so I posted the first stanza in my port on writing.com. I'm in a poetry contest that gives forms of poems and then I write a poem following that form. The optional challenge was to take significant historical event and write about it.

The birth of Baha'u'llah was a significant historical even in my spiritual life and the spiritual life of many others across the planet. Baha'u'llah was born in the Persian province of Nur (light) at dawn on November 12, 1817.
