A New Week Begins: Hope sees a bright future

It’s Sunday, November 13, 2011, and a new week begins. I realized today that hope always sees a bright future. Even when clouds hide the sun, hope remembers the warm rays and smiles. I’m just recovering from a bad case of psoriasis brought on by stress and worry.

Ever since Mom lost her hearing aids and I had to pay for a new pair, I’ve worried. I’ve worried over everything and it’s brought on a bout of psoriasis. I know that worry doesn’t cause psoriasis, but it does encourage an outbreak. The psoriasis on my left leg is especially bad, but all I have right now is the topical that I apply once a day. It helps, but it’s slow.

Everyday this week I’ve encountered a situation that cause stress and I can’t afford any more stress. My Medicare kicks in December 1 and I can’t see my new doctor until after that date. This means I have to handle stress differently because worrying about the stressful situation doesn’t make sense when I know the worry will encourage a psoriasis outbreak.

Writing and prayer help alleviate the stress. The problem is that I haven’t been doing a lot of either for a while. I need to get back to my old routine of prayer and writing. In order to do either, I need a little alone time. The situation does not encourage this. I now have my brother-in-law sleeping on a couch and it’s stressing me out.

I’m almost to the point of giving up, but that won’t help. Besides giving up isn’t an option. It’s something I think about when every occurrence in my life causes stress. I need to look at the coming week with the eyes of hope because hope always sees a bright future.

It is Friday Evening

Jalál (Glory), 7 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 167 BE – Friday, October 21, 2011 about 7:10 PM Pacific Time

It is Friday evening and I have to stay home Saturday and Sunday. Ordinarily, I would find this a problem, but after the last couple of days, it is refreshing. True, I probably will not get everything caught up, but that is all right. I need to learn to relax and chill out. I am going through a horrendous out break of psoriasis and I think the main problem is stress.

I need to learn to accomplish what I can without stressing over everything that I need to accomplish. I need to learn to chill out and stop stressing over a slow computer. Stress will not increase the speed of my computer. Stress will not help me figure out why my computer slows down at the most in opportune times. Stress will only increase the psoriasis outbreak that is starting to cover my body.

I have to call the pharmacy and get another tube of the cream I put on the red itchy patches. I know the prescription helps a little. My doctor suggested I use Vaseline fro the dryness, which helps a little. It does not do anything for the itch. I am going to try a remedy for itch that my grandmother used. She made a paste out of baking powder and spread it over the itchy areas when we had chicken pox. It stopped us from scratching then, I am not sure how well it will work in this case, but it is worth a try.

I suffer from Psoriasis

‘Idál (Justice), 15 Rahmat (Mercy), 166 BE – Wednesday, July 8, 2009 about 4:21 PM Pacific Time

I suffer from Psoriasis. I am presently dealing with flare-up. The medication I use can only be applied for 14 days at a time. It is applied twice a day to the affected areas. Psoriasis is itchy and painful, I put the itchy first because that is the most difficult for me to deal with during a flare-up.

Today I received a book in the mail called Speaking Clearly: Living well in a world that doesn't understand psoriasis and is put out by Abbott. I forgot about requesting the book, probably because I have been under a lot of stress lately (which encourages psoriasis flare-ups). I am glad the book arrived today because it will help me deal with the disease.

The book has eight chapters
  • Chapter One - family, friends + support
  • Chapter Two - intimate relationships
  • Chapter Three - in public
  • Chapter Four - at work
  • Chapter Five - on the road
  • Chapter Six - look your best
  • Chapter Seven - feeling fantastic
  • Chapter Eight - comfortable in your own skin

I will begin reading the book this evening.

Today I begin a fourteen-day treatment for Psoriasis

Jamál (Beauty), 2 Bahá (Splendor), 166 BE – Sunday, March 22, 2009 about 6:22 PM Pacific Time

Today I begin a fourteen-day treatment Psoriasis. I apply the cream twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. It does help to an extent, but lately it seems the Psoriasis is getting more irritating. It could be stress, when I talked to the doctor; she said stress could be a factor in the out breaks.

I suspect I've had the problem all my life, it's just that when I was younger the outbreaks were short and passed quickly. However, since 2007 when my mother went into the hospital for the bawl resection the out breaks have been worse. Of course, that's when my stress increased.

My ulcer also begin acting up really bad in 2007 and I've been under stress ever since. I'm going to have to start taking a different approach to life. True the stress this year has been less then in the past couple of years, but I still have stress and it's still affecting me.

Anyway, for the next fourteen days I will apply the cream morning and evening. I'm glad spring is here because I seem to have less of a problem with Psoriasis in the spring and summer then I do in the fall and winter, but that may be because there is more sunlight and that apparently alleviates the problem a little.
