Midweek Reflections on Triple Digit Temperatures

Summer officially begins on June 21, but the summer temperatures begin in Las Vegas on June 1. We had extreme heat warning for the first five or six days of June because of the sudden raise in temperatures. The extreme heat warnings have stopped; however, we are still experiencing triple digit temperatures. We will not receive any more extreme heat warnings as long as the temperature stays below 110 degrees.

The first few day of June going out of the house, even in the morning, was difficult. I do not find it difficult any more, which is probably a good thing because I have to go to the bank and the grocery store on Thursday morning. Then next Monday I have an appointment with my eye doctor at 10:00 AM. I hope that it is cloudy next week because the clouds help lower the temperature a bit.

It is cloudy this morning, which indicates some humidity. The humidity does not seem to be a problem today or maybe I can deal with the humidity better then I could a couple of years ago. I do not think there is a chance for rain; at least the clouds do not look like rain clouds. I guess I should check the weather report online to see what to expect the rest of the day and tomorrow.

Extreme heat warning

It is hot in Las Vegas today. The temperatures reach 114 degrees in the shade and there is shade in Las Vegas. There is shade in my garage and that is where I parked my car. There is shade in my yard because I do not have the money to have the pine tree removed.

I did not go out today because I went out yesterday. There was an extreme heat warning yesterday as well. However, since I did not look at the news before I went out I did not know about the warning. It would not have made any difference because I had already made up my mind to go to the Commemoration of the Martyrdom of the Bab.

There is an extreme heat warning for tomorrow as well, but I am not sure whether I am going out of the house. I will have to give that some serious thought, but to do that I have to clean the car out before I have it washed. I think I will clean the car out on Wednesday and then have it washed on Thursday or Friday.

Saturday at home, June 2, 2012, in Las Vegas

I’m spending Saturday at home because Mom doesn’t go to the daycare center today. Normally, I miss going somewhere, anywhere, but not today. I spent all morning on Friday, driving from the east side of Las Vegas to the west side and back again. Today I’m happy to remain home and indoors.

On Friday, June 1, the weather bureau released an “Extreme Heat Warning” and I can testify to the fact that we did have extreme heat on Friday. It effect me more then other people because I don’t have working air conditioning I had the driver’s side window rolled down all the time I was driving. In fact, I’m not sure I rolled it up when I got home, so I have to go out after while and make sure that it’s rolled up.

This morning, I fixed beans and ham. The beans were hot, probably not the best things to eat on a hot day, I enjoyed eating them. I used honey baked home pieces to season the beans. Mom enjoyed some of the beans as well. I still have a lot left, so I well freeze a container and mix the rest with the rice I have in the fridge.
