Motivational Monday: What is my motivation for this week?

Kamál (Perfection), 13 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Monday, January 30, 2017 AD About 10:06 AM Pacific Standard Time

What is my motivation for this week? Two poetry forms I've never tried before. The first is a form created by David Marshall called the Haiku Sonnet. The second is a Cambodian form called the Go Vat. Both forms look difficult enough to wake up my muse and get the creative juices flowing. Not that I've had any creative difficulties this month. At least none that are worth mentioning in this entry.

I will write the poems and then post examples with the explanations and links on a couple of Form Friday's in February. I need to start planning my blog entries ahead of time because it stress me and turns my hair gray if wait until the last minute to compose an entry. I certainly don't need any thing to turn my hair grayer then what it already is.

On the Last Sunday in January 2017

Jamál (Beauty), 12 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Sunday, January 29, 2017 AD About 12:13 PM Pacific Standard Time

On the last Sunday in January 2017,
I contemplate the events
Of the past week,
The  past month,
And the past year.

On the last Sunday of January 2017,
I feel the fear reverberating
Through my neighborhood,
Through Las Vegas,
Through Nevada,
Through America,
And across the planet Earth.

On the last Sunday of January 2017,
I say a prayer of protection
For those who
Through no fault of their own
Are stranded
And facing an uncertain future.

Fun Fact Friday: Television Memories

Istiqlál (Independence), 10 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Friday, January 27, 2017 AD about 8:14 AM Pacific Standard Time

January 27, 1926 is the day is the day John Baird, an Scottish inventor, demonstrated the television. Since I was born on December 24, 1946, I don't know what life is like without a television set. I can imagine what it was like and it most have been an interesting experience.

Black and white T.V.
Watching Howdy Doody ,
Captain Kangaroo,
Micky Mouse.

My grandfather had a black and white television sitting in the living room for a long time. I think Grandpa also had a color television but I don't know when he purchased it. I enjoyed watching both the black and white T.V. and the color.

Midweek Reflections on Letting Go

'Idál (Justice), 8 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Wednesday, January 25, 2017 AD about 11:07 AM Pacific Standard Time

O Lord,
Help me to let go
Of yesterday's fears
And mistakes.

This morning I seem to be having difficulties letting go of yesterday's bad decisions and fears. I'm not sure precisely what is causing this problem today. I'm tired so it could be I didn't get enough sleep last night. I had a problem with my allergies last night so the coughing could have interfered with my rest.  I have some meds my doctor prescribed for the allergies which I didn't take last night. I take one of those meds tonight and see if that helps. I may have to call my doctor to get another prescription for those meds or a referral to a specialist. I'll deal with that after I see how many of those allergy talbets I have left.

O Lord,
Help me to let go
To focus on your strength
And forgiveness.

I'm attempting to remember which prayer I said last night. I know I recited the evening prayer, but I don't remember reading anything from The Hidden Words or any other scripture. That could be one reason I'm having problems letting go this morning. I have put reading The Hidden Words on my daily To Do List that way I know I'll read a scripture verse. I may not get everything done on my To Do List, but I do get over 95% of the list accomplished.

New Year 2017: Three changes I've made

Fiḍál (Grace), 7 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Tuesday, January 24, 2017 AD about 10:57 AM Pacific Standard time.

I decided on the first to make a few changes in the way I do stuff. I've made three changes in relationship to my writing.com portfolio and the way I do things. First, I now list my favorites on the right side of my screen because it saves time when I want to access a group folder. Second, I changed my review template to make it easier to do reviews. Third, I request and paid GPs for three reviews for items in my port that haven't been reviewed. When those reviews come in I will rewrite the items according to any helpful suggestions.

I'll probably make some more changes in the upcoming weeks. When I do I will make another entry about those. One thing I'm considering is putting my name on the Request Review list and set a Gift Points (GPs) amount for each requested review. When I do that I will either change my review template or create a new template for requested reviews.

A Productive Monday

Kamál (Perfection), 6 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Monday, January 23, 2017 AD about 4:19 PM Pacific Standard Time

I had a productive day. I got the smog check for my car and renewed my license plates. I also reviewed several items on writing.com and wrote a couple of blog entries. After I completed those items I did some surveys and read some paid e-mail. I'm satisfied with my accomplishments so far today. I have a few more things to do before I turn off the computer. I even finished editing a chapter in one of my novels. It's been a good Monday.

A chilly morning
Left over from yesterday
Snow covered mountains

Form Friday: Senryu

Istiqlál (Independence), 3 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Friday, January 20, 2017 AD about 12:58 PM Pacific Standard Time

Eggs over easy
The smoke alarm goes off
Time for breakfast

A Senryu is similar to an  haiku except for the subject. The subject of a haiku concerns nature while a senryu is about human beings and their life. I got the idea for the above poem when breakfast was cooking. The smoke alarm in the living room goes off whenever we fry something on the stove. Cooking in the microwave or the electric oven doesn't set the smoke alarm off, but every time we fry something on top of the stove it set off the smoke alarm.

Thursday Thoughts: Halfway through January 2017: A Poem

Istijlál (Majesty), 2 Sulṭán (Sovereignty), 173 BE - Thursday, January 19, 2017 AD about 11:14 AM Pacific Standard Time

It's halfway through January 2017
Without any resolutions
Because I every year I attempt and fail
So this year I'm trying something different.

It's halfway through January 2017
And I've placed the year in God's hands
I'm asking for assistance to finish
Editing, rewriting, composing
And increasing my financial viability.

It's halfway through January 2017,
I'm setting weekly goals
To accomplish the stuff
I need to accomplish
While attempting to spread my wings.

A Good Tuesday

Fiḍál (Grace), 19 Sharaf (Honor), 173 BE - Tuesday, January 17, 2017 AD about 4:33 PM Pacific Standard Time

Beautiful Tuesday
A day to write poetry
And learn a new form

It's a good Tuesday. I did several surveys and I wrote a poem. Now I have to post this and then get some editing accomplished. I also have to finish a snack bar I started earlier today. I got hungry so I decided I needed a snack. I unwrapped a Balance bar and ate half of it before realizing that I wanted more than just a little snack. I warmed some leftover up in the microwave and now I have to finish the snack because I can't put it back in the package.
